A few months ago I had my Nikon P6000 converted to IR by this guy:

Don't know if he does full spectrum conversions, but worth asking. Very fast turn around, good price and no problems with it at all. I'm planning on sending my K5 to him when I upgrade to a K1, though I'm very happy with the IR P&S shoot since it is and easy carry along with a regular DSLR.

My K10D was converted by Pro Camera Repair in San Diego, but when I contacted them a while back they said they did not have a qualified tech to do that work. Maybe they have found someone by now.

In the past I used an *ist D with RM90 and alter an R72 filter. It worked well but you don't get the sensitivity that a converted camera can give you. Often shot at ISO 800 or 1600. By contrast, the P6000 I had converted recently usually stays at ISO64 - at that setting the IQ is actually pretty good.

Some years ago I did a comparison of RM90 vs R72 filters on the *ist-D, if you are interested see here:

My father used the RM90 with Kodak HIE - I tried it but there was surprisingly little difference between the RM90 and and a #29 deep red filter, other than a much longer exposure time. That's what made HIE so nice... you could just put on ared filter and get killer IR effect.

Back when I had a working IR K-5, I bought a large sheet of plastic IR filter, about 1/8" thick to make filters for speedlights and studio flashes so that they would only transmit in IR. It was much cheaper than buying the 3" squares of gel from B&H. If anybody needs some, in order to have an IR only light source, let me know.

If I were to do something like convert on of my old bodies to IR (or full spectrum), who is doing a good, reasonably priced, job on Pentax DSLRs these days?

My preference for an IR body would be to have the body be full spectrum, and if I need IR only, or visible only, just put a filter in front of the lens. With live view, IR only is much less of an issue. I had some difficulty finding IR block filters. Does anyone have specific recommendations for such?
