Ok, I tried the Homebrew route, and still the build failed. First, the computer successfully executed the following:
brew install dimpase/science/flint brew install dimpase/science/arb brew tap brewsci/bio brew install matplotlib Then I tried to build Sage again, after a distclean, and another matplotlib error came up.
