Sane 1.0.20, Mandriva 2010.0 (kernel 2.6.31.13-server-1mnb) I have a Visioneer OneTouch 7100 USB scanner. According to the Sane Compatibility list this scanner is supported. I can't get it to work. I can't even get XScanimage to open. It just aborts.
The scanner is recognized by the usb file system: Bus 005 Device 011: ID 04a7:0229 Visioneer OneTouch 7100 Sane-find-scanner sees it as well: # sane-find-scanner # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer. # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter. found USB scanner (vendor=0x046d, product=0x08d9) at libusb:006:003 found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a7 [Visioneer], product=0x0229 [USB Scanner], chip=GL646) at libusb:007:002 # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage. # Not checking for parallel port scanners. # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports # can't be detected by this program. But I don't see a module loading up with it. Looks like I need to load libsane-genesys.so. Trouble is, whenever I try that my system claims it can't find libsane_genesys.so. There are modules there: # ll libsane-genesys.so* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 2010-07-05 08:42 libsane-genesys.so -> libsane-genesys.so.1.0.20* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 25 2010-04-26 17:17 libsane-genesys.so.1 -> libsane-genesys.so.1.0.20* -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 225144 2010-04-26 09:59 libsane-genesys.so.1.0.20* But the modprobe looks like this: # modprobe /usr/lib/sane/libsane-genesys.so.1.0.20 FATAL: Module /usr/lib/sane/libsane_genesys.so.1.0.20 not found. It's the same story with both soft links to libsane-genesys.so.1.0.20. Why am I chasing my tail on this thing? What am I missing? When I try to set the scanner up in MCC's scanner config applet, it claims that the 7100 isn't supported! Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Mark
