[Bug 403303] Re: power manager reports 1% battery even though it is full
Thanks, surreal, for comment #11. This is seems to be a bug in eee pc hardware. However, if we were to fix this bug, we have to do it in the acpi package. I'm going to mark this triaged since it has been discussed with Debian, and the logs mentioned to illustrate that eee pcs seem to not be following ACPI standards, causing this bug. I'll also attach the ACPI package. Regarding bug importance: I didn't set the importance, but I think Low makes sense [1]. A cosmetic/usability issue that does not limit the functionality of an application. If applications shutdown when they are not intended to shut down (causing potential data loss), then we can bump it up to Medium or even High. I set bug #392467 to Medium, but it most likely should be low. Changing it now won't affect anything since it has been marked for expiration 11 days ago. [Bug 42834] Re: please add Z39.50 support
I am the upstream maintainer for Alexandria, the root cause of this issue is documented on the RubyForge Tracker http://rubyforge.org/tracker/?func=detailatid=863aid=27418group_id=205 Basically, Alexandria needs the 'marc' ruby library to read data over Z39.50 (ZOOM). Older versions of Ruby/ZOOM included a 'marc' implementation, more recently the job was delegated to the marc gem (so the latest versions of libzoom-ruby in Karmic no longer include 'marc'). [Bug 422858] Re: Atom N280 frequency scaling not supported
I wonder why XP is different? Most likely the reason is different power profiles (by default XP has EIST off). I reposted on this - XP actually behaves the same way as 7. Win7 reports 1.33Ghz CPUZ reports 1.66Ghz So is this just a Win7 reporting bug? I guess it's rather CPU-Z reporting bug (or feature, they may just be not interested in the *actual* state). You should try Intel's own utility: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/ Intel's own utility shows 1.66Ghz In power management, if I set max processor state to 50%, Intels app shows 0.99GHz, CPUZ shows 0.99Ghz with multiplier = 0.6, Win7 continues to report 1.33GHz, and a Windows desktop processor monitor I'm using shows 799MHz (I have tried a few and they all show the same). Certainly inconsistency here. -- Atom N280 frequency scaling not supported https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/422858 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 428860] Re: Please sync gnome-main-menu 0.9.13-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
Hi, A quick check let me think it cannot be a sync: some Ubuntu patches are still required (like 10_default_commands.patch, that seems to be the Ubuntu version of default-applications.diff), and some others checked/explain why they can be dropped (like 30_respect_nautilus_spatial_setting.patch). Also, about the +dfsg stuff: reading at the header of po/en_US.po does not make clear for me it's GPL-2: # English translations for subdomain_parser package. # Copyright (C) 2005 Immunix, Inc. # This file is distributed under the same license as the subdomain_parser package. # Steve Beattie st...@immunix.com, 2005. [Bug 495333] [NEW] pyflakes package in lucid contains only documentation, no executable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pyflakes The pyflakes package only installs a changelog, a copyright file and a manpage. Those would be more useful if the actual program was also included :) I fixed this (following a few hints in the python-support README) by removing XS-Python-Version from debian/control, changing the python build dependency to python-dev, removing debian/pycompat, and rebuilding. Now that I look at debian/control again while filing this bug I'm pretty sure XB-Python-Version could also go. [Bug 392143] Re: package postgis can't be purged if postgresql is not installed due to missing directory
Hi, and thanks for you work! Wouldn't be easier to just rename postgis.postrm to postgresql-8.3-postgis.postrm as the link to be removed is installed by postgresql-8.3-postgis.postinst ? It seems that postgis.postrm is just here to remove the link, so it would do the trick. I'm putting this bug report as Incomplete in the meantime. [Bug 495354] [NEW] Unpleasant audio latency when playing .flv files in vlc or totem in karmic
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: vlc There is an audio latency/lag of about 450milliseconds when playing flv files in vlc or totem under Ubuntu Karmic. What I expect to happen is that there is no discernible latency, that the audio and video appear to be perfectly in sync. On Jaunty, I experienced a similar issue, but corrected i by uninstalling pulseaudio, and using alsa instead. Under Karmic, even after removing almost everything pulseaudio related, and switching vlc etc to alsa, there is still an unpleasant latency, which means I have to press 'j','j','j,'j','j','j,'j','j' at the start of each video, to work around this. I've tried using everything in a purely pulseaudio environment, and the latency is worse. I'd really like this bug to be fixed in order to fully enjoy the karmic audio-visual experience, and feel comfortable recommending karmic to others. [Bug 495355] [NEW] Dummy package python-gnome2-desktop cannot be removed because conduit depends on it
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: conduit Hi, Out of curiosity, I did a dpkg -l|grep dummy to see what dummy packages there are on my system. This to facilitate my purging of them all in one fell swoop. python-gnome2-desktop happens to be one such package. While apt-cache show python-gnome2-desktop (see complete output below), reveals that it is a dummy package that depends from all the modules that used to be together and that I can safely remove it from your system, when I actually tried to do so by issuing sudo aptitude --purge remove python-gnome2-desktop, aptitude informs that the package conduit will be broken should I do so (see aptitude output below). I also tried aptitude why-not python-gnome2-desktop to find out as to why it can't be uninstalled, output returned by aptitude reads Unable to find a reason to remove python-gnome2-desktop. From what I can see from the result of doing an apt-cache show conduit. python- gnome2-desktop is a required dependency of conduit's (see below). But the thing is, if it is so, why the mention that it is a dummy package that depends from all the modules that used to be together. You can safely remove it from your system.? [Bug 377546] Re: network-manager-openvpn should be able to replace resolv.conf instead of adding to previous values
pablocosta, Thanks for taking the time to file this bug and help make Ubuntu better. In order to help you, we would need some additional information: - Please provide the version of resolvconf you are running, if the resolvconf package is installed. This information can be retrieved using the 'apt-cache policy resolvconf' command. - Would you have specific examples for which the current setup fails? I'd be interested to know, since in most cases the fact that DNS information and search string gets prepended should help a lot in ensuring that at least a vast majority of requests are routed only through the VPN (as long as it has the records, and responds in time).
