Bug#903001: O: spotweb -- web interface to search and filter Usenet spots

2018-07-04 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the spotweb package. The package in the repository is
severely outdated. Because of many (new) dependencies and because upstream
tends to embrace-and-extend dependencies, updating the packaging to the
latest upstream will be more work than I can afford to put into this
package. Spotweb has a low popcon, so it won't be missed by many people.

Thanks

Jan-Pascal

The package description is:
SpotWeb is a web-based version of the decentralized news-indexing system
SpotNet, which fetches Usenet "spots" - postings that contain information
about uploaded binaries. SpotWeb allows searching, filtering, and viewing
of the spots and comments. It integrates with NZB downloaders such as
NZBget and SABnzbd+ to download the binaries from Usenet.

Bug#902393: ITP: motioneye -- web-based frontend for motion

2018-06-25 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jan-Pascal van Best

* Package name: motioneye
  Version : 0.39.1
  Upstream Author : Calin Crisan
* URL : https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneye
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python, HMTL, JavaScript
Description : web-based frontend for motion

A web frontend for the motion daemon, written in Python:
  - web-based, mobile/tablet-friendly user interface
  - compatible with most USB cameras and the Raspberry PI camera module
  - support for IP (network) cameras
  - motion detection with email notifications and working schedule
  - JPEG files for still images, AVI files for videos
  - timelapse movies
  - uploading media files to Google Drive and Dropbox

This package is present in deb-multimedia. I've enhanced the packaging
in many ways, e.g.
- Update debian/copyright for embedded fonts and JavaScript libraries
- Provide source for minified JavaScript
- Provide source for MavenPro font
- Replace embedded JavaScript with symlinks to existant packages
- Run motioneye as separate user instead of root
- Provide manpage for meyectl

motioneye is a light and practical web front-end to motion. I know of no
other such frontends. I've been using motioneye myself for a while, and
I would prefer the package to be in good shape and in Debian proper.
I am a DM with ample experience, but I will need a sponsor. The package
might be maintained in the Python Apps packaging teams, or maybe in
collaboration with the maintainer of the motion package.

Preliminary packaging is in git:
https://www.vanbest.eu/git/motioneye-debian/
gitweb: http://www.vanbest.org/gitweb/?p=motioneye-debian;a=summary

Bug#802917: do not migrate denyhosts to testing: who will do security support?

2015-10-26 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Hi Helmut,

Thanks for showing some care for this package. The main reason for me to
want to support denyhosts was the possibility of the synchronisation
server. I have since written a (AGPL licensed) replacement for the
original, closed source, server, starting from Anne Bezemer's suggestion
in Debian bug#622697.

I may consider offering to do the security support for denyhosts for at
least the stretch support period, but I'm not sure what that would mean
exactly. Is the main work in following CNEs for the package and fixing
them for Debian (and preferably upstream as well)?

Another possibility might be to work with fail2ban upstream to also
support my, or another, synchronisation server, but I'm not sure if they
would be willing to accept patches to that effect.

> * Your upload reintroduces security bug #692229.
You're right. I checked whether all Debian patches had been implemented
upstream, must have missed this one.

This synchronisation server has been written in response to Debian

Bug#788994: ITP: denyhosts -- Utility to help sys admins thwart SSH crackers

2015-06-16 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

denyhosts has been removed from Debian for good reasons, see
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=732712
These reasons were:
1. Unaddressed security issues
2. Dead upstream
3. Viable alternative (fail2ban)

There is now a new, active, upstream for denyhosts at github:
https://github.com/denyhosts/denyhosts

The new upstream has applied many of the downstream patches from Debian and
Fedora and has released version 2.7 to 2.10 until now. There are patches for
CVEs in the git repo. In short, it looks quite active.

denyhosts also does have a unique feature: it enables users to share their
host lists, which allows me to pre-emptively blocks brute force attacks
before they even reach me. This is an important feature for me.

I think all of the original reasons for removing denyhosts from Debian
have been invalidated by these developments, and I intend to revive the
Debian package after consulting with the previous maintainer.

Description Utility to help sys admins thwart SSH crackers
DenyHosts is a program that automatically blocks SSH
brute-force attacks by adding entries to /etc/hosts.deny.
It will also inform Linux administrators about offending
hosts, attacked users and suspicious logins.
 .
Synchronization with a central server is possible too.
 .
Differently from other software that do same work, denyhosts
doesn't need support for packet filtering or any other kind
 of firewall in your kernel.

DenyHosts unfortunately does not support IPv6.

Please consider depending on php-seclib instead of the embedded copy.

Bug#736111: spotweb: Hourly cronjob gives message: uninitialized string offset: 0 in dbeng_pdo_mysql.php line 28

2014-01-19 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best

The cron.hourly spotweb job gives the following message:

PHP Notice: Uninitialized string offset: 0 in
/usr/share/spotweb/lib/dbeng/dbeng_pdo_mysql.php on line 28

when the database server as set by dbconfig-common is set to the empty string,
i.e. localhost. Changing the database host to 'localhost' resolves the problem.

My suggestion is to check for an empty database host string and replace it by
'localhost' if necessary.

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for your review!

debian/copyright:
 - missing license entry for images/ttf/liberation-sans/* (even if you
don't ship the embedded font files, if they're in the source tarball,
they need to be acknowledged in debian/copyright)
Thanks for spotting this. An earlier version if the upstream package
shipped
non-free font files, which I had removed from the dfsg source. Looking
at
the license file in images/ttf/liberation-sans/License.txt, it looks
like these,
too, may need to be considered non-free, since it contains export
control
limitations in section 3. (these are not present in the copyright text
of the
Debian ttf-liberation font package). I can either move the license text
to
debian/copyright (including the export control limitations), or
completely
remove the font files from the dfsg source package. Which would you
advise?

 - your License: Apache-2 standalone section is incomplete; you
should include the text of Apache 2.0's Appendix (i.e. the license
header in lib/notifications/prowl/*)A

Fixed.

Nice to have:

debian/changelog: Please collapse all your newest changelogs into a
single one

Done.

debian/control: Consider depending on libapache2-mod-php5 | php5 and
php5-mysql | php5-mysqlnd

Wouldn't depending on libapache2-mod-php5 | php5 cause apt-get to allow
installing spotweb on systems having just apache2 and php5-cli?

Thanks again for your effort in reviewing this package, I had almost
given up on it!

Kind regards

Bug#720924: Spotweb: new release 20130826+dfsg-1~pre5

2013-09-11 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best

Dear mentors,

I've uploaded a new release of the spotweb package to mentors. It fixes
a bug recently reported against the package:

  * Change dependency to fonts-liberation. Closes: #722404

Earlier changes:

  * Note: the ~preX changelog entries will be merged before upload to
Debian

  * New upstream version (v20130826)
  * Updated debian/copyright
  * Update README.source and get-orig-source
  * Removed debian/po, not needed any more. Closes: #662123, #718528
  * Add upstream changelog
  * Updates for Apache 2.4 configuration snippets. Closes: #669806
  * Have dbconfig-common handle database upgrades
  * Use Debian-supplied jquery-form javascript library instead of
upstream

embedded version.
  * Remove upstream embedded font files, use Debian-packaged fonts
instead.
  * The news server information is now maintained in the spotweb
database, and
not in the configuration files. That means you will need to
configure your

news server information again (admin/config/settings/newsservers).
  * Disable Notifo notifications, the service has been discontinued.
  * Do not exit postinst script with error if database update fails.
Closes: #709877

I'd appreciate your reviewing the package and, if deemed worthy, upload
this new release to Debian.

The package page on debian-mentors:
http://mentors.debian.net/package/spotweb
Source package:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/s/spotweb/spotweb_20130826+dfsg-1~pre5.dsc

Closes bugs: #669806 (Apache 2.4 migration); #709877 (postinst error);
#722303 (fonts-liberation migration)

The package is lintian clean, with two exceptions. Both of them I
believe can be ignored:
- Experimental error on symlinks to javascript libraries (probably
resulting from lintian bug#672297)
- Unknown version on NEWS entry (because I already use the version
number to be released to Debian)

Cheers

2013-02-07 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
The order of the certificate chain that I configured in my web server was
wrong: I put the CA root first, and then the intermediate cert. The SSL
spec says that the SSL server should send its own cert first, next (in
order) all higher-level certs up to the root CA.

Reordering certs in the Apache SSLCertificateChainFile did the trick.
Apparently GnuTLS adheres more strictly to the SSL spec than OpenSSL. What
happened to 'Be conservative in what you send, liberal in what you accept'
(Postel's law) and RFC1122?

I'll close this bug report.

The jp2a tool, linked to libcurl-gnutls, has the same problem. See below.
The curl command line tool itself uses openssl. So it seems the
distinction is between libcurl3-openssl and libcurl3-gnutls.

Hi,

I've recently changed the SSL certificate of the Apache server my own public git

it. The StartSSL ca certificate is in /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates, but if I
clone
the repository, git complains the certificate isn't validated. Using
ca-certificates version 20120623.

Hi there,

If you run tv_grab_combiner and the results from the first grabber contain no

Here's a simple patch (note that my Perl isn't great):

This works for me, although perl complains a bit about the my $last_prog masking

Hope this helps,

Bug#646747: [BTS#646747] templates://spotweb/{spotweb.templates} : Final update for English review (2nd version)

2011-11-17 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best

 Dear Debian maintainer,

On Monday, October 31, 2011, I notified you of the beginning of a review
 process
 concerning debconf templates for spotweb.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the final proposed changes are attached to this update to the
 original bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading spotweb with these changes
 right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Saturday, November 19, 2011,
 when I will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
 the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Saturday, December 10, 2011. Please avoid uploading a package with
 fixed or changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
 course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around Sunday, December 11, 2011, I will contact you again and will send a
 final patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

2011-11-15 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Christian and others,

Thanks you for your work on finding the proper wording for the debconf
templates for spotweb.

I have just a few remarks.

1. In spotweb.templates:

Template: spotweb/postserver
Type: string
Default:
_Description: NNTP post server:
Please enter the news server that should be used for posting articles
 with Spotweb.

The word 'articles' is too generic I think. Better wording would be

Please enter the news server that should be used for uploading spots
 with Spotweb.

Since in this context, a 'spot' is a news article that contains
information about a binary in one of the news groups. The setting is to
indicate which news server should be used when the user uploads a spot
to help other users find the indicated binary.

2. The capitalisation of the name of the application is not quite
consistent upstream. For Debian I think we should choose SpotWeb (in
camel case), since that seems to be used most by upstream. The debconf
templates contain one or more instances of Spotweb.

Thanks again for your help,

Jan-Pascal

 Dear Debian maintainer,

The Debian internationalisation team and the Debian English
localisation team will soon begin the review of the debconf
 templates used in spotweb.

This review takes place for all packages that use debconf to interact with
 users and its aims are:
 - to improve the use of English in all debconf templates;
 - to make the wording of debconf templates more consistent;
 - to encourage more translations of templates.

Even if your first language is English, this process is likely to help
track down typos or errors, and improve consistency between the
debconf templates of your package and that of other packages in the
 distribution.

The process involves both debian-l10n-english contributors and
 Debian translators.

The details of the process are given in
 http://wiki.debian.org/I18n/SmithDebconfReviewProcess.

I will act as the coordinator of this activity for spotweb.

The first step of the process is to review the debconf source
template file(s) of spotweb. This review will start on Thursday, November
 03, 2011, or
as soon as you acknowledge this mail with an agreement for us to
 carry out this process.

All parts of the process will be carried out in close collaboration
with you, and, unless you explicitely ask for it, no upload nor NMU
 will happen for spotweb.

If you approve this process, please let us know by replying to this
mail. If some work in progress on your side would conflict with such a
rewrite (such as adding or removing debconf templates), please say so,
and we will defer the review to later in the development cycle.

 Thank you for your attention.

Hi,

I'm working on this package. The work-in-progress can be found at

is also a built .deb file at the same location. I'll move the packaging to

On 11/07/2010 11:38 AM, Thomas Koch wrote:

I've written a mail (Remove Solr from Squeeze?) on 2010/10/12 to
debian-java and the package's maintainer Jan-Pascal van Best and
proposed the removal of solr from Squeeze, mainly because:

 - it's already outdated a year by now (see bug #602696 )
 - it doesn't even include all contribs (see bug #602695 )
 - the package has accumulated too many bugs
 - there doesn't seem to be enough (wo)man power to maintain the package
right now on a standard that would make it fit for Debian _stable_

So until nothing else happens, please don't include solr in Debian
 squeeze.

Agreed. Solr is moving too fast, and accumulating too many dependencies
(which have their own dependencies, and so on) to be maintained properly
right now.

libip6t_recent.so is missing which renders the recent
  match unusable with ip6tables.

 I don't recall libip6t_recent.so ever existing. IPv6 support was
added well after the shift to libxt_*.so and libxt_recent.so is
 included.

No, it isn't (at least on my machine, with iptables 1.4.2-6 from Lenny):
$ ls -l /lib/xtables/*recent*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9904 2009-02-09 20:35 /lib/xtables/libipt_recent.so
There's only the IPv4 version, no libxt_* or libipt6_*

Upgrading to squeeze does help:
# apt-get install -t squeeze iptables
[...]
$ ls -l /lib/xtables/*recent*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10080 2010-07-16 23:17 /lib/xtables/libxt_recent.so

Bug#558184: lucene2 nug#558184: missing OSGi metadata, package in experimental

2009-12-24 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Hi Niels et.al.,

I've been trying to get proper OSGi manifests for Lucene. The manifest
I've come up with for the core library is shown below. The Eclipse build
system still doesn't seem to like it though:
 [java] !SUBENTRY 2 org.eclipse.help.base 2 0 2009-12-24 09:43:15.838
[java] !MESSAGE Missing required bundle org.apache.lucene_[1.9.1,2.0.0).
 [java] !SUBENTRY 2 org.eclipse.help.base 2 0 2009-12-24 09:43:15.838
 [java] !MESSAGE Missing required bundle
org.apache.lucene.analysis_[1.9.1,2.0.0).
.. but it looks like that may be because eclipse tries to find a version
number between 1.9.1 and 2.0, while Debian is already at 2.9.1

I'll upload a lucene2 package to experimental which has OSGi metadata in
the manifests for the core and analysis jars. Could you please have a look
at them?

Cheers

Bug#560611: don't fix but package solr 1.4?

2009-12-14 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Thomas Koch wrote:
The bug seems to be caused by the update of lucene2 from 2.4 to 2.9.1. The

SOLR needs this component and gives only lucene2 = 2.4 as dependency.

What's the right way to handle this?

Debian stable has solr 1.2, so we could just drop 1.3 and update solr to 1.4
 without fixing this issue?

Sure. If we can package 1.4, including all dependencies, before the
Squeeze release, I that that should be OK. For the short term, changing
the depends on either Solr, or including a Breaks: in lucene should do.

For the record: two test sets
(org.apache.solr.servlet.SolrRequestParserTest and

access. Those parts have been disabled. Solr now builds in a VM without
network access. The other test set failure
(org.apache.solr.update.AutoCommitTest) I cannot reproduce (yet).

Bug#525657: egroupware: groupdav application does not work

2009-04-26 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: egroupware
Version: 1.6.001+dfsg-2
Severity: normal

The groupdav application in egroupware is packes, but doesn't work because of
two reasons:
- missing dependency on php5-mcrypt
- application not inserted in the database

The second reason can be worked around after installation by manually
add the application:
Admin-Applications-Add

and then allowing your users access to the application.

2009-04-26 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Ralf Becker wrote:
 1. Why should GroupDAV require mcrypt?

It doesn't, I was confused by this error:
egw_session::init_crypt() required PHP extension mcrypt not loaded

 2. Was that a new installation or an update? In the later case, it's
normal behavior, that new applications get NOT installed.

It's an update. The trouble is that there is no application 'groupware'
in the list that you get with
Setup/Manage applications.

Bug#521009: please update to solr 1.3

2009-03-24 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your offer of help. Your help would be most welcome!

Solr is maintained within the pkg-java team, which uses subversion for
maintaining the packaging. You can find the most recent version at

svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-java/trunk/solr/
(websvn at http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-java/trunk/solr/)

The main thing holding back Solr 1.3 is that it depends on Jetty6, which
isn't in Debian yet. When using the Debian package from upstream (which
can't be in Debian because it includes a ton of libraries), Solr builds
but it fails on a number of unit tests
(org.apache.solr.servlet.CacheHeaderTest,
org.apache.solr.servlet.NoCacheHeaderTest,
org.apache.solr.client.solrj.embedded.JettyWebappTest,
org.apache.solr.client.solrj.embedded.LargeVolumeJettyTest and possibly
more).

Jetty6 for Debian is a work in progress, depending in turn on the
maven-debian-helper and a large number of dependencies.

I'm working on fixing the unit tests; if you're interested I think you
could help there. We can split up the failed unit tests between us and
see how we go. Alternatively, you could help out Torsten Werner in his
work on packaging Jetty6 (see bug# 425152).

I'll be away after tomorrow until Monday, feel free to look around, try
to build the latest version from svn, reproduce the unit test failures
and see if you can add patches that address them. We can discuss after
Monday.

Thanks again for your offer of help!

Kind regards,

Jan-Pascal

org.eclipse.jdt.core.JDTCompilerAdapter

to /etc/jetty/start.config

Bug#425152: Debs in Debian

2008-08-21 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
I would think the following would put Jetty 6 a long way on the road:
- build without network access
- build without using included jar files
- instead, use jar files already packaged with Debian in /usr/share/java
- build with OpenJDK instead of Sun's Java

Cheers

Good. Lucene2 can be moved to main with a build-depends on OpenJDK.
Who's got the energy to do it? :)

I've checked and lucene2 builds with OpenJDK (and passes all tests :-).
Updates are in svn, I'm preparing an upload now.

Bug#488895: please move to main

2008-07-02 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
As far as I can (publically) see the need for contrib arises because it
 uses libdb-je-java.
The main reason is that lucene2 fails a number of unit tests when running
with java-gcj-compat, e.g. for the indexing of dates. See bug #468334.
This has been deemed serious enough to put lucene2 into contrib.

What I thinks needs to be done is look into the unit test failures more
closely, try to isolate java-gcj-compat bugs (or at least
incompatibilities with sun-java5/6) and try to have those bugs resolved.
Unfortunately, that will be quite a bit of work which I don't have time
for now.

I'm a bit reluctant to move lucene2 into main while we know it doesn't
work properly with java-gcj-compat, but I'll let Michael overrule me...

Cheers

Tomcat also doesn't start for me without including commons-logging to

raised, Tomcat is not usable like this at all.

Bug#468334: gcj-4.3: fails running unit tests from Lucene package where Sun JDK works

2008-02-28 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: gcj-4.3
Version: 4.3-20080202-1
Severity: normal

The Lucene package contains a large number of unit tests. All tests succeed when
building using Sun JDK 5. When building using gcj-4.3 (with gcj-java-compat-dev
from unstable), quite a few unit tests fail. Upon a suggestion by Michael Koch
I'm filing a bug report to gcj with this issue, in the hope of pointing to more
concrete bugs in gcj.

Way to reproduce:
$ apt-get source lucene2
$ cd lucene2-2.3.0+ds1
(install dependencies including sun-java5-jdk)
$ debuild -i -us -uc
(observe the package builds without errors)
$ vi debian/rules
(change JAVA_HOME to /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj and :wq)
$ debuild -i -us -uc
(observe unit test failures in build log)

I'll attach a list of the failed test cases as a reply to this bug.

Bug#443382: solr-tomcat5.5 fails: problem seems to be in Tomcat

2007-11-20 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
The problem seems to be that recent Tomcat versions still package a few
Java 1.4 compatibility .jars in /usr/share/tomcat5.5/common/endorsed. This
prevents Tomcat from loading XPathFactory.

(see http://www.openrdf.org/forum/mvnforum/viewthread?thread=1328).

Removing the two .jars fixes the problem for Solr, but it may cause
problems for other applications or other VMs.

2007-09-21 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
This bug only occurs with with tomcat5.5_5.5.23-1 (lenny/sid), not with
5.5.20-2 (stable).

Maybe moving the configuration files from /var/lib/tomcat5.5/conf to
/etc/tomcat5.5, or the switch from ${catalina.home} to ${catalina.base}
causes this.

Thanks for your report, I will look into it.

Bug#441890: solr: building should run the unit tests

2007-09-11 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: solr
Severity: wishlist

When building the Solr package from source, the unit tests are not run. This
hides the fact that, currently, the unit tests fail when building Solr with

The debian/rules file in the Solr source package should run the ant 'test'

Bug#433636: gij-4.1 broken, gij-4.2 OK

2007-08-08 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

When I compile with gcj 4.1 and then run with gij-4.1, I get the error. If
I run the same class file with gij-4.2, everything's OK.

It looks like the issue is (or was) in the classpath libs, in
java/util/Calendar.java. The gcj4.2-src source package has some extra
statements in the setTimeZone method compared to gcj-src that (to me) seem
to make the difference.

Cheers

Bug#436680: ant: rmic task with kaffe rmic fails

2007-08-08 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: ant
Version: 1.7.0-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi all,

When building Lucene using gcj I came across the following problem.

The ant rmic task calls rmic as an external process. When constructing the
command line, the -verbose options is added AFTER the classes to handle. The
rmic documentation however states that all options must come BEFORE the list of
classes. It seems Sun's rmic doesn't care, but the gcj/kaffe rmic does.

The issue is in the execute() method of the
org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.rmic.KaffeRmic class.

Patch attached.

Cheers,

Jan-Pascal

Bug#433636: gcj-4.1: java.util.Calendar.setTimeZone fails to set ZONE_OFFSET

2007-07-18 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: gcj-4.1
Version: 4.1.1-20
Severity: normal

When running the following code from a CEST locale:

Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
System.out.println( Calendar:  + cal.toString() );
cal.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone(GMT));
cal.set(1970, 0, 1,// year=1970, month=january, day=1
0, 0, 0); // hour, minute, second
cal.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0);
System.out.println( Calendar:  + cal.toString() );
System.out.println( cal:  + cal.getTime().getTime() );

the final println should print 0, but prints -360. The other
printlns show that the Calendar.setTimeZone call fails to clear
the ZONE_OFFSET property of the Calendar (timezone GMT does not
use daylight saving).

it would be helpful if you attach the failing testcase to the bug
report. did you check with both gcj-4.1 and gcj-4.2?

TestDateTools.java contains the failing unit test in the Lucene 2.2.0 source.
Test.java contains a cut-down version of this, not depending on Lucene or
junit, but containing a few extra debug statements.

I'll check with gcj-4.2 later.

I've started work on this package.

Status so far (release 1.1.0-0jp2):
- Web servlet installs and works under tomcat 5.5 on one machine, but
has trouble finding the lucene class files on another
- .jar-files in upstream source are replaced with .jars in
/usr/share/java (from existing Debian packages)
- builds with pbuilder
- one lintian warning left

Still to do:
- install replication scripts
- move solr configuration and schema files to /etc/solr
- install minimal set of configuration files (instead of those from the
demo installation)
- better check all copyright notices
- look into providing a separate demo installation, or supply the demo
files under /usr/share/doc/solr

Bug#421268: Started

2007-05-09 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
I've started work on packaging phpesp. I'm using webapps-common, which is not
in the pool yet, so the phpesp package will probably start its life in
experimental, or outside of the pool altogether.

Bug#421268: ITP: phpesp -- Web application to create, run, and analyse online surveys

2007-04-27 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jan-Pascal van Best [EMAIL PROTECTED]

There is no online survey package in Debian at the moment. A quick
web scan suggests that phpESP is a good candidate to fill that gap.

* Package name: phpesp
  Version : 1.8.2
Upstream Author : James Flemer [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.butterfat.net/wiki/Projects/phpESP/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: PHP
Description : Web application to create, run, and analyse online surveys

phpESP is a package for PHP that provides an easy to use web-based
interface to designing surveys, deploying them on your web site, and
exporting data. It features multiple users and user groups, with data
isolation and hiding between groups. It is suitable for use by a
single person, a department, or an entire organization. The surveys
created by phpESP can be easily embedded into existing HTML templates
with one or two new lines.

Bug#420077: lintian: Lintian confuses Affero General Public License with GPL

2007-04-19 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: lintian
Version: 1.23.29
Severity: normal

When using Lintian on a package (under development) under the Affero general
public license (AGPL), Lintian complains that the debian/copyright file should
refer to the GPL in /usr/share/common-licenses instead:
E: uccass: copyright-should-refer-to-common-license-file-for-gpl
The AGPL differs from the GPL only in that it adds a section 2(c), but it is a
different license.

2006-07-07 Thread Jan-Pascal van Best
Package: lucene
Severity: wishlist

Lucene has released version 2.0.0, which is mostly source compatible
with 1.4.3 which is in Debian now. Release 2.0.0 contains a number of
bug fixes, but most importantly, many extras such as hit highlighting
(in lucene-highlighter-2.0.0.jar).
