Bug#974610: Acknowledgement (nextcloud-desktop: Unable to add, change or remove accounts)

2020-11-13 Thread René Seindal

Hi

The issue is apparently down to a problem with dependencies.

The package depends on qml-module-qtquick-controls2 but in reality it
requires qml-module-qtquick-controls (without the "2" at the end) to work.

If I install qml-module-qtquick-controls manually, I can open the main
dialog, and the tray applet reacts to mouse left clicks again by opening
the same main dialog.

Whether the underlying problem is a wrong or missing dependency, or the
program really should use the quick-controls2 library, I have no idea.

Bug#974610: nextcloud-desktop: Unable to add, change or remove accounts

2020-11-12 Thread René Seindal
Package: nextcloud-desktop
Version: 3.0.1-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

With a recent upgrade the tray icon has changed behaviour. As a
consequence of that change, it is no longer possible to add, change or
remove accounts.

If I click on the tray icon, nothing happens. This, I believe, is by
design, but it is a change in behaviour with the upgrade. I happen to
like the previous behaviour more.

If I right click on the tray icon, I'm presented with a menu
- Open main dialog
- Settings
- Exit

The entries "Settings" and "Exit" work as expected, but the "Open main
dialog" entry does nothing whatsoever. Nothing appears anywhere. No
window and no error messages.

There's nothing in the journal, and if I run the nextcloud client from
the command line, nothing related appears there.

Without access to the "Main dialog" there is no longer any way to add,
change or remove an account.

Bug#882487: thunderbird: Thunderbird won't start - not even with .thunderbird deleted

2017-11-26 Thread René Seindal

Hi Carsten,

On 2017-11-23 21:02, Carsten Schoenert wrote:

You have installed apparmor. Have you tried to disable the AppArmor
profile for Thunderbird and check for the further existence of the issue?

   $ sudo aa-disable /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.thunderbird

This resolved everything.

I had no idea apparmor was installed and active - I had never heard of
it before.

My other computers (all Debian testing, one installed later from the
same install image) have a few apparmor packages installed, but non have
it active - aa-enabled gives "No - disabled at boot".

Thanks a lot for your help.

Bug#882487: thunderbird: Thunderbird won't start - not even with .thunderbird deleted

2017-11-23 Thread René Seindal
Package: thunderbird
Version: 1:52.4.0-2~exp1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I cannot get thunderbird to start on a fairly newly instaled debian testing
laptop.

On a newly booted computer:

rene $ killall -1 thunderbird
thunderbird: no process found
rene $ killall -1 icedove
icedove: no process found
rene $ rm -r .thunderbird
rene $ thunderbird

just gives me a dialog with the message:

"Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window,
you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system."

I have tried using an old profile, a new profile, safe mode, removing
.thunderbird and .icedove totally, ... to no avail.

Thunderbird won't start. I have no idea what to do next, and google doesn't
help much.

I have tried packages from stable, testing and experimental, all the same.

A lot of emblems have disappeared from /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/emblems

disappeared from Nautilus and F-Spot. I especially miss them in F-Spot where I

2009-01-25 Thread René Seindal
Package: gnome-mplayer
Version: 0.9.1-1
Severity: normal

gnome-mplayer resets the audio volume to a preset value everytime it starts.
If I lower the volume by other means, when gnome-mplayer starts it changes the
volume by its own accord.

I think I should be in charge of the volume on my computer, not gnome-mplayer,
so it should start playing the video without fiddling with the audio volume.

Version: 2:2.3.2-2+lenny5
Severity: normal

I have the X server lockup randomly, sometimes at the GDM greeter, sometimes
later. the whole system blocks and I have to turn off power and reboot.

It happens with all version of X.org and xserver-xorg-video-intel I have tried.

It doesn't happen with kernel 2.6.24 but it does with all later kernels.

I suspect it is an X driver issue, as it only happens with X.org running, but
otherwise I have no ideas.

There are no messages in the X.org log or in the system logs.

I'm stymied but I'll be happy to supply whatever extra information you might
find useful. There are other similar bugs, but I am not able to judge if this
is a dublicate of some other. If it is, please tell me where to add whatever
information I might have.

Sorry to be so vague :-(

Bug#502984: f-spot fails to open database just written by f-spot

2008-10-21 Thread René Seindal
Package: f-spot
Version: 0.4.4-1
Severity: important

f-spot will no longer open the database it has just written in the previous
session, maybe half an hour ago.

I get this error message:

Error loading database

F-Spot encountered an error while loading the photo
database. The old database had been moved to
photos-20081021-3.db and a new database had been created.!

On the console I get this:

$ f-spot

I am a bit surprised to see the Banshee reference in there. I did have Banshee
installed for a while.

I have tried to open the database with the 'sqlite3' program and it opens
without error. I can display the schema and run queries without any problems or
errors.

I have tried running the program /usr/bin/f-spot-sqlite-upgrade and it responds
Database is already upgraded.

I have tried to remove .gnome2/f-spot, start f-spot to recreate new settings,
close it, copy my old DB in, and restart f-spot, which gives me the same error.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the entire mono-framework,
including all mono applications with no difference.

Its a bit of a bummer as I have 47k photos in there and need the classification
I have a made to locate the right photos in this pool.

I did get a fairly large update of many mono-related packages today or
yesterday, which might have something to do with it, but I have tried the same
database on another system which hadn't been updated, with the same error
message.

Bug#502984: Update

2008-10-21 Thread René Seindal
I have restored the previous version of the database from my backups,
and f-spot starts on that database, so the problem must be with the
database written at exit today.

I had made substantial changes, moving photos around, re-importing, and
adding and removing thousands of photos to/from categories before
closing the program normally.

Bug#501397: iceweasel: Display problems with wordpress default theme

2008-10-07 Thread René Seindal
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0.3-1
Severity: normal

Iceweasel 3.0.1 and 3.0.3 doesn't display some sites based on the wordpress
default theme correctly.

Among the sites are http://www.venicekayak.com/

There are a couple of screenshots of the problem here:
http://linux.seindal.dk/2008/10/01/firefox-3-rendering-problem-with-bg-image/

The sites display correctly in other browsers, including Firefox 3.0.3 for
linux downloaded directly from getfirefox.com. It does, however, persist even
in Iceweasel 3.0.3.

The error persists even when started on a clean profile.

René Seindal.

Bug#476941: f-spot: slow when using 42000 photos

2008-07-27 Thread René Seindal

Tim Retout wrote:

Hi René,

If this is new, perhaps it was linked with enabling beagle support. This
has been turned off in f-spot 0.4.4-1, which should hopefully reach
testing soon.

Please test it and let us know if there's an improvement.0.4.4-1

I use pinning so I can easily pull packages in from unstable, even if
I'm mostly running testing.

I'm running f-spot 0.4.4-1 now, with close to 45000 photos now, and it
is still very slow. It does seem marginally better, but it might just be
me getting use to it :-)

I've uninstalled everything beagle as soon as I could, but it changed
nothing.

The slow operation is adding and removing tags from large sets of
photos. If I add a tag to 500 photos in one operation, the program
becomes unresponsive for several minutes, taking up 100% cpu all the time.

It also takes time to add to a selection. If I keep shift down and
scroll to make a selection, the program regularly becomes unresponsive
as the selection grows in size.

The program starts fairly quickly.

I've tried using strace to see what it's doing, I expected lots of stats
and content sniffing, but it seems to be doing nothing, the trace just
looks like this for ever.

Bug#476941: f-spot works at a crawl - at 100% cpu

2008-04-20 Thread René Seindal
Package: f-spot
Version: 0.4.2-1
Severity: important

f-spot is extremely slow. I have some 42000 photos imported, from 1998
to today, and just moving from one photo to the next by clicking or by
the keyboard, takes 1-2 seconds. Adding a tag to a group of photos
take 1-2 seconds per photo, which isn't fun if you're tagging a
thousand.

The application is rendered useless by this slowness. I've used f-spot
before with several thousands photos, without any such problems.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the whole mono framework, but
to no avail. I have tried both the testing and the unstable framework.

This is a fairly fast laptop, with a core duo cpu and 2Gb of memory.

Doing the same operations directly in sqlite3 finishes in an instant.

René Seindal.

Bug#418352: f-spot: New versions should be writable

2007-04-09 Thread René Seindal
Package: f-spot
Version: 0.3.0-1
Severity: normal

When my photos are read-only and I want to edit them in f-spot, I make
a new version, but the new version inherits the read-only status of
the original. The new version should be make writable by the owner,
so changes can be made. Otherwise, what is the purpose of making a new

Are you running hal ? In that case it's probably a duplicate of #352503.

I am running hal. If I uninstall hal it takes gnome-volume-manager with
 it :-(

I my case the disk-mounter shows both dvd and nfs mounts. I have no
windows-mounts.

It does look like a duplicate.

Bug#340989: gnump3d: Problems with final à in UTF-8 mp3 tags

2005-11-27 Thread René Seindal
Package: gnump3d
Version: 2.9.8-1
Severity: important

I'm trying to stream italian music with gnump3d and file songs with
titles ending in à, like Oh che sarà causes output which is not
valid UTF-8.

The relevant line in /var/cache/gnump3d/song.tags is:

/server/share/Musik/Fiorella Mannoia/Certe piccole voci - Live (disc 1)/10 - Oh
che sarà.mp3 SIZE=3525067YEAR= LENGTH=03:40ARTIST=Fiorella Mannoia
COMMENT=TRACK=10/13 MTIME=1128197676ALBUM=Certe piccole
voci - Live (disc 1)TITLE=Oh che sarà GENRE=Pop BITRATE=128
FILENAME=10 - Oh che sarà

I believe it is because à (a grave) gets the representation Ã\0240 of
which the last is treated as a space and stripped somehow, which
leaves the input as invalid UTF-8.

I have my file names in UTF-8 and the mp3 tags too.

I'm trying to stream my music collection to a Nokia 770 tablet, but
the audio player there is very picky and wants perfect UTF-8 in the
playlists, and with amputated titles like in the example it refuses to
play anything from the playlist.

gnump3d-index should output valid UTF-8 if ones locale indicates that.

René

Bug#293503: hplip: Cannot scan with PSC 950

René, do you still have problems with the HPLIP in unstable?

If you need it for stable, just download the source, edit debian/control and
changelibsnmp9-dev to libsnmp5-dev if any is in there, and build. The
resulting binary packages will work fine in Debian Sarge.

I haven't used hplip because I needed the scanner. I therefore went
back to hpoj. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to experiment with
hplip lately.

have a HP PSC 950 which I have used with hpijs and hpoj for printing
and scanning.

I have now installed hplip and a newer hpijs, and I can print, but I
cannot scan, use the card-reader, clean cartridges or anything
else. Just print.

sane-find-scanner doesn't find anything.

scanimage says:

xsane the same.

I have a line saying only hpaio in my /etc/sane/dll.conf
