Tried the above twice, the indented block guides do NOT appear for me. Flipping
the "Show indent guides" menu option also doesn't bring the block guides back,
not sure why it worked before.

Closing the tab and then restoring it with Ctrl+Shft+T does bring the indent
guides back.

Tried it but it didn't work for me: Opened subprocess.py in Spyder in a single
tab, no other files are opened, switched focus to another app, waited ~20
seconds, back to Spyder, no indent guides still. However, switching the "Show
indent guides" menu option off and then back on again brought the indent guides
back (however, I know that trick doesn't work when I have 6-8 files opened in
different tabs).

Pretty strange. This is what I have:

Not in my case. The only way I could make them appear is to close the tab
(Ctrl+W) and then reopen it again (Ctrl+Shift+T). Switching the focus to
another app and then back to Spyder doesn't do it for me.

True but I wanted the bug report to have the configuration I used as sometimes
bugs are dependent on seemingly unrelated config changes.

If I close the tab with "/usr/lib/python3.10/subprocess.py" file an then reopen
the file again in a new tab then the indent guides will be shown again properly
(until Spyder is restarted again, then they will disappear again).

Bug#1028637: Spyder stops showing indent guides after restart

2023-01-13 Thread local10
Package: spyder
Version: 5.4.1+ds-1

Spyder stops showing indent guides after restart. To reproduce the issue:

1. Start with a clean Spyder profile, that is, remove the
"/home/luser/.config/spyder-py3" dir, if  it exists
2. Start Spyder
3. Open the following file "/usr/lib/python3.10/subprocess.py"
4. Goto Menu > Source and enable the following:
    [x] Show indent guides
[x] Show selector for classes and functions
    [x] Underline errors and warnings
5. Indent guides should be properly shown
6. Shut down Spyder
7. Start Spyer, go to tab with /usr/lib/python3.10/subprocess.py, indent guides
are not shown.

Thanks

Bug#1026307: Kwrite no longer remembers what files it had open before logging out of KDE or rebooting the PC

2022-12-17 Thread local10
Package: kwrite
Version: 4:22.12.0-2

Hi,

After a recent (about December 15, 2022, +/- a few days) upgrade Kwrite no
longer remembers what files it had open before logging out of KDE or rebooting
the PC. If I had, for example, two files open in Kwrite in two separate windows
before logging out of KDE, when logged back into KDE, KDE would open two empty
Kwrite windows instead of properly showing the files that used to be in those
windows.

Before this change, Kwrite used to remember what files it had open, and after
logging out of KDE and then logging back into KDE would open those Kwrite
windows and show the files in them properly.

    You have missing dependencies!

    # Mandatory:
    qdarkstyle >=3.0.2;<3.1.0 : 3.1 (NOK)

Please install them to avoid this message.

Note: Spyder could work without some of these dependencies, however to have
a smooth experience when using Spyder we strongly recommend you to install all
the listed missing dependencies.

Other than this message the Spyder IDE seems to functions without issues.

Where do I get that qdarkstyle package?

This bug has been filed against Bookworm and it still remains unfixed in
Bookworm. Maybe the patch from unstable will fix it or maybe not, I don't know.

It's really strange that you are so eager to close the bug before the proposed
fix is even available in Bookworm for testing, can't really see much sense in
such an approach.

I really don't understand your logic for closing this bug, can you explain it?
Do you have a patch for this bug? Have you tested it and found that it resolves
the issue?

I'm the person who opened this bug and the issue is still present for me in
Bookworm.

That workaround doesn't seem to work for me. Anyhow, I switched to mpv, may
stay with it even after the VLC is fixed (mpv has a nice back/forward frame
feature that VLC is missing, that is there's no way to go one frame back in VLC
as far as I know it).

What bug are trying to reproduce? My main problem is that "one of the recent

the VLC player for me. Was working fine before. The video (regular MP4 files)

output only a blank black rectangle with the orange cone in the middle is
shown. The VLC video output is set to "XVideo Output (XCB)", that's the only

Everything else are just side effects that I don't really care about.

Tried it again with the playlist window. This is how it works for me:

1. Open VLC > Ctrl+L > My Videos > Don't click on any of the videos > Start
changing the size of the window > no scaling effect is observed, all border are
redrawn properly

2. Open VLC > Ctrl+L > My Videos > Start playing one of the videos, then stop
it > Ctrl+L > Start changing the size of the window > scaling effect is clearly
observed, the video list right and bottom borders are NOT redrawn properly, the
effect is very similar to what is shown in the

Tried it and I don't seem to have that scaling effect shown in the

VLC still shows black screen when playing videos (MP4s) though.

1. Go into the bank transaction window and select "File > Print checks".
Gnucash immediately crashes.
2. Open the "View Bill" window and then select "Pay" and check the "Print
check" checkbox. After clicking "OK", gnucash immediately crashes. Populating
the "Num" and "Memo" fields does not seem to have any affect, gnucash still
crashes.

Any ideas? Thanks

Bug#943748: Firefox-esr upgrade issue [60.9.0esr-1~deb10u1 -> 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1]

2019-10-28 Thread local10
Package: firefox-esr
Version: 68.2.0esr-1~deb10u1

Hi,

Firefox v60 had a nice feature: One could go to, say, domain.tld/page_1.html,
then increase/decrease the font size on the page and it would affect all pages
in the domain.tld. What's more, firefox would remember the font size setting
between firefox restarts. It's was a very useful feature for websites that
mismanage fonts, making text either too big or too small.

In Firefox v68 it's no longer true. It appears font size increase/decrease only
affects a tab (instead of website domain) and firefox only remembers the font
size setting as long as the tab stays open. If the tab is closed the font size
resets to default.

Is it a bug or a feature? Based on what I read, Firefox v70 works the same way
as FF v60 did so it's unclear why FF v68 behaves differently.

Any way to get Firefox v60 per domain font size behavior back?

Thanks

Bug#921455: Buster: Kvirc does not allow to view files from the File Transfers window

2019-02-05 Thread local10
Package: kvirc
Version: 4:5.0.0+dfsg-1

Hi,

In previous Kvirc versions (for example, kvirc in wheezy) it was possible to
view a zipped text file from the  File Transfers window. Suppose the user
downloaded a zipped text file named "test.txt.zip".  In kvirc in wheezy it was
possible to just doubleclick on the file name in the File Transfers window and
kvirc would launch Ark from which the user could view the content of the
"test.txt" file.

The above is no longer possible in Kvric in Buster. Doubleclicking on the file
name in the File Transfers window does not seem to do anything, Ark isn't
launched, the user would have to go to the directory where the "test.txt.zip"
file is saved (which is inconvenient and wastes time) and try to view it there.

The attached file shows my Media Type settings for "*.zip". Is there a way to
make kvirc to work as it did in wheezy (see above)?

Thanks

Bug#920179: Buster: klavaro crashes with segmentation fault?

2019-01-22 Thread local10
Package: klavaro
Version: 3.03-1

Hi,

Klavaro is crashing for me with a segmentation fault when I try to start it in
Buster. Tried running 'export LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8"' before starting Klavaro, it
removed the "Locale not supported by C library" message (see below) but still
resulted in the segmentation fault.

I normally use KDE launcher to start Klavaro, the command prompt output below
was just for test purposes just to see what could be wrong.

Thanks

Bug#914855: Please add dictionary integration

2018-12-03 Thread local10
I moved to okular for my epub readinng so the issue is of lesser importance for
me. A couple of other issues I noticed while using fbreader:

1. Fbreader kept centering the text in all lines on all pages, that was really
annoying. Not sure why fbreader does that, I edited the CSS that came with the
book and changed all "center" tags to "left" and changed internal fbreader
settings for paragraph and headers to use "left" alignment yet fbreader still
continued to center the text. When opening epub's html pages with browser they
show up properly left aligned.

2. Fbreader is missing shortcuts that a GNU/Linux app is expected to have, for
example, Ctrl+Q to quit the app.

3. Add spacebar to be the same as PgDown.

Bug#908420: Buster: KVIrc forgets to use settings folder from previous installation

2018-12-03 Thread local10
The following is as how I was able to resolve the issue:

1. Rename "old" ~/.config/kvirc into ~/.config/KVIrc
2. Create ~/.config/kvirc file (file, not folder) as follows:

$ ls -l ~/.config/kvirc
-rw--- 1 luser luser 76 Nov 29 17:34 /home/luser/.config/kvirc

$ cat ~/.config/kvirc
[Main]
LocalKvircDirectory=/home/luser/.config/KVIrc/
SourcesDate=538312962

The bug stands though as something really does not work right in the setup
wizard.

2018-11-27 Thread local10
Package: ark
Version: 4:18.04.1-1

Ark can't properly handle rar archives that contain files with square brackets
(that is, "[" and  "]") in the name.

How to test:

1. Take an existing valid epub file and rename it as "Test file - [Bracket
Test].epub" (without quotes)
2. Put the above file into a rar archive with the name "Test file - [Bracket
Test].epub.rar" (without quotes)
3. Open "Test file - [Bracket Test].epub.rar" wiht Ark, Ark shows "Test file -
[Bracket Test].epub" inside.
4. Click on the "Test file - [Bracket Test].epub" inside Ark trying to view it
5. Ark will not be able to open the "Test file - [Bracket Test].epub" file and
instead will show error: "The archive /tmp/ark-ZZyYJC/Test file - [Bracket
Test].epub was not found"
6. Repeat steps 1-5 using "Test file - No Brackets in the name.epub" instead of
"Test file - [Bracket Test].epub", it should work without any errors.

Thanks

Hi,

Have "/home/luser/.config/kvirc/" folder from a previous version of KVIrc. In
Buster, Kvirc keeps opening the Setup Wizard even if I have selected "Use
settings folder from previous installation" before.

Here's what I did:

1. Launch Kvirc
2. Kvirc opens the Setup Wizard
3. Select "Use settings folder from previous installation" and point it to
"/home/luser/.config/kvirc/"
4. Click Next
5. Click Finish
6. Kvirc opens and functions fine, all the settings from previous installation
seem to have been successfully imported
7. Close Kvirc then launch it again. Kvirc again opens the Setup Wizard and I
have to go through steps 2-6 above again to get my old settings imported.

 Thanks

Bug#908095: Buster: Kwrite crashes while opening a file

2018-09-07 Thread local10
Was able to open the problematic file by reconfiguring Kwrite and changing the
default encoding to UTF-8 and the fallback encoding to UTF-16 (Kwrite keeps
changing UTF-16 to ucs2 but whatever).

That's a good news for me, of course, but still I feel Kwrite shouldn't crash
like that even if the default and fallback encoding do not match the file's
encoding. In Wheezy I sometimes would open a binary file with Kwrite and I
don't even remember when Kwrite crashed like that, if it ever did.

I installed kwin-x11 and it did resolve the titlebar problem. Thanks

Here's a question though: Since KDE cannot function properly without a window
manager, why isn't a window manager in the KDE package dependency chain? I
understand some users may prefer a different window system and/or window
manager but shouldn't KDE package, by default, include everything that KDE
actually needs to run properly?

> But again, this is no user support forum. Please use debian-kde mailing

I asked this question on deb-user but did not receive an answer that would
allow me to solve the issue, so I filed this bug. As for the debian-kde list, I
didn't even know it existed until you brought it up.

Thanks

Not that I'm aware of. I installed Buster (and KDE) about a week ago and when I
opened KDE it was pretty screwed up: no task bar, missing apps, etc. I then
installed LXDE and LXQT for testing purposes and because I needed a working DE,
currently I use LXDE (and planning to move back to KDE when possible as I miss
some things).  Could my LXDE installation somehow interfere with KDE? Regards,

Bug#908079: Buster: No window title bars in KDE?

2018-09-05 Thread local10
Package: kde-standard
Version: 5:102

Am experiencing a weird issue in KDE after installing kde-standard package: all
apps I tried (e.g. Konsole, Konqueror, Firefox) open and their windows do not
have title bars. Thus, there is no (obvious) way to maximize, minimize, move,
resize or even close the window.

Tried LXDE and LXQT, both work work as expected, with properly working widows,
etc.

Any ideas? Thanks

Bug#907593: Buster: LXQT: No feedback when an app is launched

2018-09-02 Thread local10
Installed LXDE for comparison so more info:

1. LXDE does provide provide feedback when apps are launched.
2. LXDE launches and shutsdown apps a lot quicker than LXQT does. The
difference is very noticible (2-3 seconds for LXQT in some cases, e.f. Firefox,
compared to a fraction of a second for LXQT). Regards,

Bug#907593: Buster: LXQT: No feedback when an app is launched

2018-08-29 Thread local10
Package: lxqt
Version: 27

For some apps (e.g. firefox) it takes a couple of seconds between when the
Quick Launch icon is pressed and when the app actually opens its window. Other
apps may open relatively quick, in a fraction of a second. Currently LXQT gives
no indication that an app is being launched and may lead to confusion, giving
the impression that nothing is happening and thus confusing the user into
pressing the quick launch icon again. Then, a couple of seconds later, two
windows/instances of the same app will open. Generally, this is not what I want.

LXQT should give an indication that an app is being launched,  KDE does this by
changing the mouse cursor during the launch phase and LXQT should probably do
something similar.

Thanks

Bug#907499: Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse settings are lost/have not effect after logout/login

2018-08-28 Thread local10
Package: lxqt
Version: 27

Issue 1: mouse left handed setting is not applied after logout/login

1. Set Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > Mouse > [X] Left handed
2. Logout out of lxqt then login back
3. Goto Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > Mouse, [X] Left handed is checked
but the mouse behaves as a right handed mouse. It necessary for me to uncheck
and the recheck the left handed setting for the mouse to become Left handed.

Issue 2: mouse Acceleration setting seems to have no effect

Set Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse > Mouse > Acceleration to different values
from 1 to 10. Mouse pointer appears to move with the same speed and not
affected by the mouse Acceleration setting.

Thanks

Bug#869533: While browsing the source "Open link in New Tab" does not always work

2017-07-23 Thread local10
Package: firefox-esr
Version: 52.2.0esr-1~deb7u1

While browsing the source, "Open link in New Tab" does not always work,
seemingly it does not work more often than it does. For example, browsing the
following code snippet from
https://www.rt.com/news/397275-maks-airshow-2017-highlights and trying to "Open
link in New Tab" did nothing for me for the links[1][2] in the code snippet
below. However, manually copying the link location then  opening a tab and then
pasting the location in the url bar works fine. Any ideas? Thanks
