The URL used for fetching quotes in YahooJSON (yahoo_json method) is once
again not working.

Known issue, so please do not open a new issue at
https://github.com/finance-quote/finance-quote/issues or
https://rt.cpan.org//Dist/Display.html?Queue=Finance-Quote. I have reopened
https://github.com/finance-quote/finance-quote/issues/264 and will look at
using one of the alternative sources noted in the comments.

In the meantime I suggest switching to AlphaVantage (don't forget to acquire
and set an API token). See https://www.alphavantage.co/support/#api-key

[GNC] Meaning of A/U+C/C in the importer

2023-05-05 Thread andrew

Hi,

What is the exact meaning of the A, U+C and C columns in the "Generic import
transaction matcher"?

I have checked user manual and Wiki, however they talk about those without
providing an unambiguous explanation.

Re: [GNC] Finding older GC versions (was Re: Turn of drop list ...)

Hi Stan,

Yes the setup.exe files are the Windows installer files. You can also get
to these from the gnucash.org home page by clicking on Downloads >> Program
and then scrolling right down the bottom to "Other" and clicking "View all
GnuCash downloads" and then "gnucash(stable)" and then clicking on the
appropriate release folder e.g. 4.14 and then download the
gnucash-4.14.setup.exe for Windows.

Re: [GNC] Lost Keyboard Accelerator feature

2023-05-05 Thread jbonnett
Thanks again Murugan,

I did read another reply you made more carefully about how that file gets
copied if it is not already their and I did what you have described below. I
am now all fixed with the latest mapping file, including my changes.

In case it helps someone, I am on Windows 10, and I did the following:

1. Went to C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\GnuCash (where is
my user name)
2. Renamed accelerator-map to accelerator-map-backup
3. Restarted GnuCash to get a new accelerator-map
4. Adjusted the relevant lines in accelerator-map, like this

(gtk_accel_path
"/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/ViewStyleDoubleLineAction"
"4")
(gtk_accel_path
"/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/ViewStyleRadioAction/0"
"1")
(gtk_accel_path
"/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/ViewStyleRadioAction/1"
"2")
(gtk_accel_path
"/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/ViewStyleRadioAction/2"
"3")

5. Restarted GnuCash

I must admit though, I changed the key bindings, restarted GnuCash, and it
didn't work. I then realised I had not removed the semi-colons and did
another iteration to get it all fixed!

Best Regards,
John

--

John

to get the latest file,
a. save your existing for reference to a different directory b. delete the
existing accelerator-map from your GNC_USERCONGIR_DIR.
c. restart GNUcash and the new will be appear in your GNC_USERCONGIR_DIR d.
make necessary changes you want in the new file

there has been changes to the tags so better to use the new file

The book-currency feature was created 6 years ago as part of an ambitious
project that never got finished. It added several hundred unused lines to the
options code so I removed it as part of rewriting that options code in C++. I
thought that it wouldn't have gotten set in any books.

I've restored the feature to 5.1 so you and anyone else with the feature set
will be able to upgrade.

Bom dia.

Utilizava normalmente o GnuCash até a versão 4.13, realizando importações de
transações ".CSV", multisplit, vinculando as colunas normalmente (DATA,
formatação do ".CSV" nesta nova versão?

Agradeço muito pela ajuda

Is there an example or tutorial for creating a custom invoice template?
The default invoice does not appear very professional, and has been commented

This requires a lot of extra time in some cases.

The nightly builds are not releases, though you can of course use them in the
way you describe.

The releases on the other hand are found on flathub. And while not obvious from
their website you can install older versions from there as well from the
command line.

Our wiki explains how you can do this:

These issues are currently being worked on. The freeze will only happen if
there are pre-existing descriptions with newlines in them. That will be fixed.

Also the precedence of matches will be revised to be much more like the
original behaviour in 4.x.

The other major issue was being able to ignore suggestions, which is also being
looked at.

On Windows, I need to install 2.6.21, 3.11, 4.14, and finally 5.1 to

Re: [GNC] Lost Keyboard Accelerator feature

2023-05-05 Thread Michael Hendry
Thanks all,

I eventually found this line in the accelerator-map file

; (gtk_accel_path
"/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/JumpLinkedInvoiceAction" “”)

and edited it so that it now reads

(gtk_accel_path "/GncPluginPageRegisterActions/JumpTransactionAction"
"j”)

If I remember correctly, the accelerator-map file distributed with earlier
versions of GNC included suggested key combinations for all the possible
actions, so all that was necessary was to remove the leading colon.

No, it has proved to be too hard to get a certificate for Derek's build
machine. Use the sha-256 hash published in the release notes to check the
integrity of gnucash-x.x.setup.exe. The powershell command is

Thanks.
The "not downloaded often" message is different from the "unsigned" message.
I am familiar with both.
I just don't remember having to click "more" and then "download anyway" after
an unsigned message when I previously installed gnucash.

There is no signed version, that I know of. Windows tells me the program is
not downloaded often. I always have to tell windows to keep and open anyway.

a. save your existing for reference to a different directory
b. delete the existing accelerator-map from your GNC_USERCONGIR_DIR.
c. restart GNUcash and the new will be appear in your GNC_USERCONGIR_DIR
d. make necessary changes you want in the new file

These issues are currently being worked on. The freeze will only happen if
there are pre-existing descriptions with newlines in them. That will be fixed.

Also the precedence of matches will be revised to be much more like the
original behaviour in 4.x.

The other major issue was being able to ignore suggestions, which is also
being looked at.

The nightly builds are not releases, though you can of course use them in the

The releases on the other hand are found on flathub. And while not obvious

That would work.

On the one hand, one would have to periodically run search and replace
operations. But one would save having to maintain a second translation table
along side the existing Import Map.

Hi, I have two (mildly) related questions, but I will post them separately,
so the threads don't get confused.

Quicken has two facilities upon transaction import that interact with each
other:

1.Suggests a counter account (Quicken calls some of them
categories) based upon what was done with earlier transactions with the same
characteristics.

2.Translates the bank-supplied description entry into something
more friendly (Quicken call these "Renaming Rules").

So for example, an incoming bank transaction:

TF 2023 2034-302 D $100

Could be automatically changed to:

Transfer to Fred Monthly Alimony D $100

The first facility adds the "Monthly Alimony" counter-account, and the
second does the description change ("TF 2023 2034-302" => Monthly Alimony).

My question is this: Gnucash does the first part well with its Import Map
feature. Is there anything that can do the second part for me?

Thanks as always for all help,

Paul

Re: [GNC] Trouble Changing Imported Descriptions

I have seen the exact same behavior, and find it more than just an annoyance.
This arbitrary reversion to different text strings can result in flawed and
erroneous data entering your books--including entering transactions into
placeholder (i.e., read-only) accounts.

Thanks, Murugan.

I’d already found this in the release notes, but after I’d deleted the file and
restarted I couldn’t find the Cmd-1 etc key definitions in the commented-out
section of the newly-created accelerator-map file. Once I’d copied them in from
your earlier email, these are now working.

I’m still looking for Cmd-j, and for an idiot’s guide to the construction of
new entries in accelerator-map.
