[kwin] [Bug 455675] Firefox (and other apps) strobe on resize - failed repaint?
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455675 --- Comment #3 from Vlad Zahorodnii --- Alright, this is a Firefox bug after all. Firefox creates two surfaces - one with the drop shadow, and the other with web page contents. It sets opaque regions on both surfaces, it's worth noting that the drop shadow surface has a hollow/transparent part where web page should be. It appears like when resizing firefox, the web page surface can uncover those hollow parts. Since firefox says that the hollow part is opaque, kwin won't try to repaint the area below it and you will see artifacts as in the video. Why did it show up in 5.25? We made kwin use opaque region hints more "aggressively" in order to avoid repainting screen areas that are covered by opaque regions. So if you scroll a web page in firefox and firefox is the top most window, kwin should try to repaint firefox and nothing more. That being said, this is a firefox bug. It should either ensure that web page surface always covers that hollow area (it would be the best solution as it is going to make window resizing more pleasant) or not set an opaque region in the drop shadow surface. I will file a bug report in bugzilla.mozilla.org if it's not already and link it here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[krita] [Bug 455570] Krita plus 5.1.0 prealpha : complex brush outline causes intolerable performance lag
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455570 --- Comment #2 from Dmitry Kazakov --- Hi, Stephen! Could you please tell, what is exactly the the stutter/slowdown you experience? And which one is the biggest problem for you? 1) The stutter when doing shift+drag brush resize gesture 2) A small delay (about 200ms) in the beginning of the first brush stroke after brush resize. The following brush strokes don't have it. 3) The delay/stutter when painting with the second and the following strokes after resize I can personally reproduce the first two issues. I can fix the first one. The second one is kind of "expected behavior" (disputable). And I cannot see the third variant of the issue. If you have the third one, please attach a video of the problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[plasmashell] [Bug 455697] New: crash when internet goes down while streaming multimedia in browser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455697 Bug ID: 455697 Summary: crash when internet goes down while streaming multimedia in browser Product: plasmashell Version: git-stable-Plasma/5.24 Platform: Archlinux Packages OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: crash Priority: NOR Component: Media Player Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: dfperc...@gmail.com CC: k...@privat.broulik.de Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 149991 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=149991&action=edit backtrace SUMMARY A home router which redirects dns queries to itself in the event of a loss of connectivity to the ISP, can cause https authentication errors in plasmashell, presumably related to the media control widget or possibly browser integration. The failed url in my case was https://i.ytimg.com/(some_hash_code) , which makes me think it was trying to fetch a thumbnail. I am somewhat puzzled as to why plasma is making requests to Youtube, but it clearly wants an image file for something. The self-signed certificate and/or 401 response from the router results in a warning dialog being presented to the user. Upon canceling or closing this dialog window, the crash occurs and the desktop restarts. The X session appears to remain intact, and all open processes and windows seem to be preserved, it's just the launcher bar and desktop itself that has to reload. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect the system to a network behind a router or other gateway device. 2. Make sure plasma-browser-integration is installed. 3. Open a browser, go to youtube and start playing a video. 4. While video is playing, disconnect or otherwise disable the WAN link on the router, and start redirecting all dns queries to the router or other host which will respond to https requests with a self signed certificate. A common Netgear home router seems to accomplish this. 5. Wait about 5 minutes. It may be possible to trigger a fetch by locking the session or clicking the media player controls applet, but for me this was a time-based repeating occurrence. 6. When the inevitable warning about self signed certificates pops up, click cancel. OBSERVED RESULT plasmashell has a segfault and restarts the desktop EXPECTED RESULT quietly close dialog and proceed with life SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.95.0 Qt Version: 5.15.4 Kernel Version: 5.18.3-zen1-1-zen (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060/PCIe/SSE2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Committed on 21/06/2022 at 03:02. Pushed by emmetoneill into branch 'krita/5.1'. Animated Transforms now respect cropping translations. NOTE: I'm not happy with how the translation is working as a whole with transform masks after cropping. E.G. In Alvin's test image, the circle drawn is roughly 512px units into the canvas. By that logic, cropping the image should actually move the existing transform keys to near 0 value. However, the actual translation is by roughly 3000 units. This looks correct visually, but the coordinates make no sense. I'll file this as a separate bug. It's not **majorly** important, but it would be nice to have logical coordinates for a transformation masks. I think this bug is there on the base transformation mask, but isn't easily noticable until you have an animated transform mask on where the translation values suddenly matter more. [frameworks-kxmlgui] [Bug 447358] App crash when displaying tooltip on tray icon
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447358 --- Comment #1 from Juraj --- After another round of debugging I found that the crash is caused in the check code: >while (m_widget->toolTip().isEmpty()) { >m_widget = m_widget->parentWidget(); >if (!m_widget) { >return false; >} >} >if (m_widget->whatsThis().isEmpty()) { >if (m_widget->toolTip() == whatsThisHintOnly()) { >return true; >} >return false; >} And the crash is triggered on both `m_widget->toolTip()` and `m_widget->whatsThis()` calls. If I comment one half the other will crash. If I comment both the tooltip will be shown and there will be no crash. Somehow calling either toolTip() or whatsThis() is bad and crashes the program but when the toolTip() is called as the parameter of the function showExpandableToolTip everything is fine and programs is happy. These results were obtained by compiling the code with kdesrc-build and as test program for tray icon I used akregator. My setup is OpenBox with tint2 panel/tray. The version of this file before this change is working fine. Working commit: ecd7cefd Crashing commit (and later): 84682615 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[KScreen] [Bug 416475] Display Configuration not saved properly on Wayland with multiple monitors
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=416475 Ian Sutter changed: What|Removed |Added CC||althac...@althacker.xyz --- Comment #9 from Ian Sutter --- My problem may be related to this bug as well. I have two essentially identical 1080p monitors and it seems that (especially when using Wayland), the monitors settings don't apply properly for me. If I logout, then login again, my monitors are mirrored instead of extended even though I set it to extend in the previous session. Another thing of note is that when I click "apply" to save my monitor changes, it doesn't actually seem to notice that it saved the changes. When I go to close the system settings program, it asks me if I want to save or discard my monitor settings even though I already saved them and didn't make any changes after saving them. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455684 Bug ID: 455684 Summary: The cursor was inverted and the selected region was above the cursor position in VMs with 3D acceleration enabled Product: kwin Version: 5.25.0 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: input Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: matt.fagn...@bell.net Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY The cursor in Plasma 5.25.0 was inverted so that it pointed down and to the left instead of up and to the right in Fedora Rawhide/37 GNOME Boxes QEMU-KVM VMs using with 3D acceleration enabled using the virgl driver from mesa 22.1.2 and virtio gpu. The selected region was above the cursor by about 1-2 times the height of the cursor every time. In order to select and open the Application Launcher menu, the cursor had to be moved below the bottom-left of the screen. When trying to select menu items or other things in the Application Launcher menu, Firefox, Konsole, System Settings, kinfocenter, I needed to put the cursor about 1-2 cursor heights below the item to be selected. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Boot a Fedora 36 KDE Plasma installation 2. Log in to Plasma on Wayland 3. install GNOME Boxes if it isn't already with sudo dnf install gnome-boxes 4. Download Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20220617.n.0.iso from https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1986249 5. Start GNOME Boxes 6. Start a QEMU-KVM VM with Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-Rawhide-20220617.n.0.iso in GNOME Boxes with 3 GB RAM, 3D acceleration enabled, and EFI enabled 7. Move the cursor around in Plasma with the mouse. The cursor is inverted. 8. Try to select the Application Launcher menu button at the bottom-left of the screen normally. The cursor must be moved below the bottom-left of the screen to select Application Launcher menu button to open it. 9. Try to select the menu items or icons normally in the Application launcher menu. The cursor only selects the menu items or icons when it's 1-2 cursor heights below them. 9. Start Konsole 10. Try to select the menus in Konsole normally. The cursor only selects the menus when it's 1-2 cursor heights below them. OBSERVED RESULT The cursor was inverted and the selected region was above the cursor position in VMs with 3D acceleration enabled EXPECTED RESULT The cursor would appear normally and it would select things as usual. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Rawhide/37 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.94.0 Qt Version: 5.15.4 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This problem didn't happen when using the same Fedora Rawhide KDE Plasma image on bare metal with the radeonsi mesa driver and amdgpu kernel driver with an integrated Radeon R5 GPU or in a GNOME Boxes QEMU-KVM VM with 3D acceleration disabled using the llvmpipe driver and virtio gpu. If not, try disabling KDevelop's Unit Test View plugin as a > workaround. Hi, thanks for responding. As pr my latest investigation, it seems that if there is a duplicate test-case within the suite, that triggers the error. I guess there is an assumption somewhere that they are unique, but not enforced/handled, so it surfaces as a crash during destruction of the test-suite structures. For this there is a workaround, that is, ensure there is no duplicate test-cases enlisted in tests. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[kdevelop] [Bug 455533] Kdevelop crashes upon exit
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=455533 --- Comment #8 from Sigbjorn --- Investigations: Using the doctest (gitlab.com/doctest), generates test-cases, that are picked up and enlisted by the test executable it self. In doctest, there test might be grouped into test-suites, and test-cases are 'scoped' to test-suites, so there are no conflicts, - in doctest. However, the cmake/integration exports the test-case names, that might be duplicates. Creating a minimal cmake doctest example, with two test-suites, and within each of them, repeats the crash, at the same spot. A simple workaround to avoid crash during exit, or regeneration of cmake-files, is just to ensure all test-cases are unique. Further investigation & resolution could pinpoint the exact cause, and strengthen the cmake/ctest manager so that it handles duplicate test-cases, one way or another (not crashing :-)). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

When an image is imported as a paint device, it only preserves the bitmap data, so the original file name is obviously lost upon return.
