For me, duplicates occur only if mail filtering does NOT move the mail to a folder different from INBOX (using IMAP), where I let the filtering happen. Moreover, Folder-Remove Duplicate Messages does not work. Of multiple duplicates, two will remain (if the operation is started at all after selecting this action, which does not seem to reliably be the case for me). I've seen an open bug report for this somewhere but I cannot seem to find it now. But nothing that came up said any thing about file name length.. My file system is ext4.. Also, I tried enabling akonadi system, but it didn't help at all (even after restarting).. Oh, also, not 100% of the time, but very often (maybe 75% of the time) akregator will crash (seg-fault) when I close akregator..
