Re: [LincolnTalk] Pizza places

2022-04-28 Thread Lis Herbert
After moving from Cambridge about 6 years ago we were very happy to find
Sorrento's in Concord, which was a good enough stand-in for Armando's on
Huron Ave for slices.

But we are now completely devoted to the Upper Crust in Lexington, which
amazingly delivers to Lincoln (not via one of the food delivery apps, but
via their own website and drivers). And if you love the Chicken Shack from
Shake Shack, you'll be very happy with their fried chicken sandwich, too.
If you are picking up, the very best ice cream in the Boston area is just
down the block, at Rancatore's.

Max and Leo's in Sudbury is also good, with a nice crust, but can be sort
of heavy and expensive.

And finally Whole Foods carries frozen dough from Otto's (Cambridge,
Brookline, and next to the Capital Theater in Arlington), if you want to
make your own.

What is it about males? Many years ago, I took a Drawing From Life course at
the Decordova.  Week after week we drew the female nudes that modeled for
us.Then one week a nude male modeled. At he end of that class, when we looked
at each other’s work, I discovered to my chagrin that, after the gentleman had
stood naked for three hours modeling for us, I was the only one the the class

If your children are on Lincoln Talk or scrolling through Lincoln Talk and see

Could be a great teaching tool for kids who have porn thrown in their faces via

Re: [LincolnTalk] Tulip mystery

2022-04-28 Thread Anne Warner
I don't know the full answer to your question, but I can report that
outside the kitchen window of the farmhouse in Connecticut where my mother
grew up (so now more than 90 years ago) there is a small troop of red
tulips that have been coming up every year since anyone can remember. The
current inhabitants dubbed them the "Caroline tulips", because that was my
grandmother's name, and she was the one who planted them. My grandmother
was born in the year 1900, was married at 18, and moved to the farmhouse a
few years after my mother's birth in 1929. I visited the current owners
(who due to the many, many descendants of my grandparents visiting them are
in touch with our greater family) about three years ago in the Spring, and
the tulips were still there and in bloom. No one has ever tried to move
them, but everyone who knows the farmhouse knows about the Caroline tulips,
and they are watched for and appreciated every year.

[LincolnTalk] Tulip mystery

2022-04-28 Thread Audrey Kalmus
Dear Lincolnites-

I have a tulip mystery that I bet folks here can solve. There are few
tulips that pop up in my garden every year that existed here before we did,
so they are at least 10 years old. In researching how to move them I found
lots of commentary saying tulips only bloom for 1-2 years after planting.
Do I have amazing super tulips for them to have lasted this long? If so
I’ll definitely move them, otherwise it looks like the accepted wisdom is
that moving tulips is not worth the effort.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

[LincolnTalk] LLCT Pollinator Plant Sale Closes Tomorrow

2022-04-28 Thread LLCT Information
Although many plants have been sold out, there are still some amazing
shrubs available! The shop is open until the end of the day on *April 29th*.
Pick up for all plants is June 3rd (afternoon and evening times will be
available).

A selection of what is still available:

*White Meadowsweet*-a lovely meadow shrub reaching 2-4 feet tall with white
flowers that blooms in late summer. Important pollen source for long
tongued bees!

*Flowering Raspberry*- Broad, maple-like leaves are complemented by large
pink flowers in mid-summer. This shrub reaches 3-6 feet in height and its
fruit supports many different wildlife species. Important pollen source for
long tongued bees.

*Pussy Willow*-a small tree reaching up to 20 feet tall, with lovely
catkins in the early spring. This willow provides critical, early-season
pollen to bumblebees and other pollinators.

*New Jersey Tea-*this low growing shrub reaches 3 feet in height, blooming
in March and April. Well-adapted to drought, this plant has deep roots and
tolerates any soil. Supports butterflies, and is the larval host for the
Spring and Summer Azures.
