Mexico

1999-01-20 Thread EVRARD Jean-Pierre

Hello,

Sorry, this is not really Nikon topic, but here can i hope an answer.

In May, i'll go to Mexico (Playa Del Carmen/Yucatan) for my hollidays with
my loved Nikon stuffs.
It's the first time that i go outside of Europe and North Africa, so forgive
me if my questions are really stupids.

So, here are my few questions :

1) I've seen in documentation that the weather is "Tropical", so with a lot
of humidity. I've also seen in the list many problems due to humidity.
How is the humidity there ? Is it dangereous for the stuffs ?
I don't want to come back with a culture of fungus in my lenses and in my
bag.
Sorry, but if i'm paranoiac, this is due to the list :))

2) The security.
How is the security there, can i walk with a body around my neck without be
attacked.

3) If you've suggestions, there are welcome

Sorry for my broken english ...

What's about the last 10 years ...

1998-12-11 Thread EVRARD Jean-Pierre

Hi,

There are a lot of mails concerning the little differences between F90 and
F100.
Hmmm, i've a old F801, and i'm also search for real innovations but i'm not
a professional. Maybe i'm happy too fast when viewing my pictures.
Ok, for the autofocus, there is a worl of difference but for the rest ...
Pfff

- metal chassis : F801 also
- High eyepoint : F801 also
- DX or manual selectable : F801 also
- 1/8000 sec : F801 also
- AF working to -1 IL : F801 also
- synchro to 1/250 sec : F801 also
- motor at 4.5 pictures/sec : F801 3.3
- interchangeable focusing screens : F801 also
- matrix cell : F801 also
- programs P,S,A,M : F801 also
- Compensation Flash/Dayligth : F801 also
- autobracketing : F801 also with the back MF21(??)
- depth of field control : F801 also
- simple AA batteries : F801 also
- multiple exposures : F801 also
- vertical grip : :(( the grip of the F90 is mecanical compatible with the
F801 without the second shutter.
- SB28 really better than a SB24 (the SB24 had full transmission of film
sensibility, speed, aperture, focal, Front-Curtain Sync (normal sync), rear
curtain sync, stombo, auto zoom, full LCD screen, standby mode, possibility
of changind the power of the flash, AF illuminator, multi-flash TTL, ...) ?
- F90 and F801 (and probably F100) share the same genious
interface(dashboard).
- etc ...

There is A big difference : the price !! The double in 10 years !! It should
be the otherwise, all the technology is now well known.

Is the 3D matrix, the interface with PC, tunable functions,AF-D, ...
usefull ?

Keep in mind that there are more than 10 years between those two bodies ...
Does it mean that the combo F801/SB24 was probably one of the biggest step
in the Nikon history ...

I remember an article during last year in the french magazine "Chasseur
d'images" about the F801and the conclusion was : DON'T SELL IT, THIS IS
FANTASTIC CAMERA (if you forget the slow AF)

Re: Nikon 75-300 [v04.n143/23]

1998-12-04 Thread EVRARD Jean-Pierre

I made up my mind when I started with Nikon equipment to
basically stick with their lenses (knowing they were more
expensive than others), but I keep getting tempted by other brands
lower prices and claims of better specs

Hello,

I might be wrong , but i think this is less difficult to choose this time
because the new Nikon telezoom (70-300) is not manufactured by Nikon.
It's a "rebadged" Tamron if i remember well. Look the price of the others ED
lenses, and you'll understand.
No matter, it's a pretty good lens (especially for the price). In Belgium,
the former 75-300 (true Nikon) was nearly the double in price with a lowest
optical quality i think.
But the former had a good tripod collar ...
