i got the following chinese from qq. it basically tells me that my

 the latest version.

Do you know where one can obtain a specification for their new protocol?
Open source implementation can only be updated if an interested
developer knows a change is happening and knows the details of the
change. I don't know about QQ, but some IM services don't publish their
protocol and some (e.g. MSN) officially discourage the use of clients
that they don't provide.

A quick web search suggests that the protocol specification has never
been published and had to be reverse engineered. If that's the case, and
the change is not obvious, it may take some time to re-instate support.

I note that there have been some suggestions that the official client is
adware. If Pidgin doesn't display the adverts, they may have added code
to detect Pidgin, to protect their advertising revenue.

Emails are not formal business letters, whatever businesses may want.
RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.

You really need to talk directly to the Mxit developers, Mxit is
included in Pidgin but it isn't developed by the core Pidgin devs.

I have 2 problems/suggestions with pidgin.

2010-01-22 Thread Faster Soft
Hy!

Sorry for my English.

I use pidgin on windows. It is very cool and I have 2 problems/suggestions.

1. I have blocked a person (ConversationBlock). It has Yahoo Mess v9, and he
still can send me files through messenger.
He is flooding me with files. Is there a way to block file transfers from this
person ?

2. I need a search bar somewhere in buddy list witch is searching through
offline buddy list too.
So. If I hide offline buddies, the search does show just online buddies.
It is necessary to activate Buddies Show Offline Buddies option to can
search offline buddies too.

Best Regards
Faster

MXit support was not added to Pidgin until 2.6.4. In 2.6.3 and earlier it was
available only as a separate plugin that could be installed. You would need to
talk to the people who package Pidgin for the n900 and ask them to update to
2.6.4, as I doubt you're going to have any luck finding MXit support built as a
plugin that is compatible with the n900.

Re: Problems in creating an AOL name

 Dear

I created an AOL name but I made a mistake by creating it with my email
address instead of a nick name.
I could not change my email address into another name so I cancelled it

I then tried to create a new AOL name but unfortunately this is not
possible, because every time I get the message that I used an incorrect
 password.

Can you please therefore look into this matter and inform me which steps I
need to make in order to have this fixed and to be able to create a new AOL.

 Many thanks in advance,
 Best regards

Hey Jenny. It sounds like you're trying to create a new AIM screen
name? It's actually not possible to do this using Pidgin. You'll
have to fill out the form at https://new.aol.com/productsweb/. Once
that's done you can Add an Account to Pidgin and type in the screen
name and password that you just created.
