What I'm aiming for is a meatier sound than I'm currently experiencing but the thought of buying yet another DAC only to end up with a marginal improvement is what's holding me back. you could do worse than follow the instructions in the link in my signature here is some feedback of the effect Just to confirm my initial impression. EDO 0.6 (option 999) + TT3.0 + SBGK's blog settings delivers much improved sound. Not only wonderfully balanced, but also with greater nuance in both vocals and instruments. More layered soundstage as well. Am listening to Janos Starker playing Bach cello suites, and have to say his cello never sounded as real as this before in my system. for me the best sound is via spdif using the above settings, the sound using EDO/USB is more hifi sounding ie detailed, but less musical SBGK's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52003 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93310 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Is there any difference in quality between the Toslink and coax digital outputs? I have no idea whether the input is better for one vs the other on the Anthem, I've only been using HDMI to this point. I know another option would be to mod it to use the USB output and then use an asynchronous USB to s/pdif converter, but I want to try this first. Thanks both are active at the same time. try both and see which you like better. I would predict no detectible difference. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95872 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

In my system, Toslink is more quiet and (slightly) more detailed, possibly because of no ground connection. But it may or may not be so in your system. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Async USB Dac Experiments - testers wanted...
I'm getting good sound after installing EDO but when I tried turning off the Touch's screen through Putty it couldn't find TT. Also I tried a 24/192 file and it plays - but super slow(like half speed) Being unable to play 24/192 doesn't really bother me as I only have one file but I would like to be able to kill the screen and daemons again. Is it possible that EDO flushed TT3.0? Also - I was under the impression that EDO in stock form was a bit thin sounding but I'm not finding this (at the moment) Turnandcough's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93310 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

For the display off app, you go into settings, screen, screensaver and change the when playing saver to display off. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Coax Connections
dsdreamer wrote: John, It should just work. Which $200 DAC do you have? Are there any lights on it to indicate lock status of the various data rates? If so, what do you observe on those lights? Are there multiple inputs to select the on the DAC for various input connections? Are you sure you have selected the correct one? Can you swap to using IR Toshlink cable instead of coax as a diagnostic step? Does your receiver have a digital input you could use to test the Touch's digital output (either coax or IR)? Sorry, but its hard to know whats going on at your end without more information. Thanks for the questions. Here is a better description of what I have. I have a Musiland Monitor 02 US. The Musiland has analogue outputs (which go to my Linn Classak receivor, which has no digital inputs although it does have a Toslink out) two headphone outputs, each slightly different), a USB input, a RCA based coax input and a Toslink input. I has no indicator lights. It comes with an interface controlled from my laptop or netbook computer (whichever it is connected to) but it is set for normal operations - i.e., 44/16. The analogue and digital outs on the Musiland appear to work together, that is they all have the signal when I look at them through the Musiland interface on my laptop. I have tried to get it to work again today with no luck. johnreid johnreid's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20273 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95864 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Coax Connections
John, The Musiland Monitor is a USB interface; it does not have coax inputs. It does have a coax *output* connection, which you seem to have mistaken for an input. Therein lies your problem. dsdreamer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12588 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95864 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] coax vs toslink
There should be no difference at all. Digital is digital. Your receiver's DAC will decode each the same. The big difference is in the Touch's analog output. The DAC in the Touch is excellent, even better than that found in many receivers. Thanks, but that's not it. I've tried re-entering both in the web control and the control panel, and I'm sure the password is right (I've logged into the website with it). When I try to click over to a stream, on either the radio or the Duet, it pulls up the right stream name but then hangs at Connecting. I then can't get out of it without restarting the device - I can back out using the arrows, but if I try to select the library or another stream nothing happens. pdmarquardt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49636 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94828 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
