[Bug 1388880] [NEW] metadata update should not delete large file manifest

2014-11-03 Thread Chris Stratford
Public bug reported:

If you upload a large file into swift using swift -S (or presumably
the upload() method) then add extra metadata using swift post -m (or
post_object()), the large file manifest metadata is deleted. It
shouldn't do that.

$ swift upload -S 1000 chrisstest /boot/initrd.img-3.16.0-22-generic

Re: [Bug 1387881] Re: qemu fails to recognize full virtualization

2014-11-03 Thread Serge Hallyn
I don't think however that we can claim this is notabug. Based on the
Description, the kvm modules appears to be loaded and enabled, per kvm-ok
output. You shouldn't be getting the

KVM internal error. Suberror: 1
emulation failure

that you're getting, and it's not clear to me what part of installing
qemu-kvm is fixing it.

Can you only get this on one particular host (i.e. hardware type)? Is
there anything in syslog? Which packages (dpkg -l | grep qemu) are
actually installed? Does a reboot (without installing new packages)
fix the problem?

[Bug 1388960] [NEW] libnss-ldap packaged with dangling symlinks

2014-11-03 Thread Ard van Breemen
Public bug reported:

On armhf libnss-ldap is packaged with dangling/incorrect symlinks:

This is on ubuntu 14.04/trusty:

root@ubuntudev:~/poep/q# ls -al /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap*
/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/*ldap*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root13 Jul 18 2012 /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/nss_ldap.so
- nss_ldap.so.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 55640 Jul 18 2012 /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/nss_ldap.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root41 Jul 18 2012
/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap.so -
/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap.so.2

This is on debian jessie:
ard@odroid3:~$ ls -al /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap*
/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 55548 Dec 7 2013
/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap-2.17.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root19 Dec 7 2013
/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap.so.2 - libnss_ldap-2.17.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root41 Dec 7 2013
/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap.so -
/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap.so.2

(same architecture, actually, jessie is the lxc host and ubuntudev is
the lxc container)

This bug is kinda critical, since armhf is rolling out more and more,
and the package just does not work.

Regards,
Ard van Breemen

[Bug 1388960] Re: libnss-ldap packaged with dangling symlinks

2014-11-03 Thread Ard van Breemen
Hi,

This could be a dup of #1022903, as it seems that nss itself is looking
for libnss_plugin.so.2 instead of libnss_plugin.so .

Hmm, yes,
ln -s nss_ldap.so /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libnss_ldap.so.2
fixes the problem.

The problem is the same as in #387576
libnss-ldap doesn't recognize armhf as a debian glibc system.
There are a lot of kludges in there about glibc. Isn't it easier just to merge
debian libnss-ldap?

[Bug 1388960] Re: libnss-ldap packaged with dangling symlinks

2014-11-03 Thread Ard van Breemen
The biggest problem with the packages is that the original source contains a
configure script.
And that the autoreconf.patch patches the configure script. Making obsolete the
fix-glibc-test-for-armel-gnueabi.patch patch.
I patched the autoreconf.patch with attached patch.
Now on to the next bug...

[Bug 1388734] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2014-11-03 Thread float
Public bug reported:

Happens every time I start gnome-do. gnome-do window will alocate some
screen space but not show and only mirror some parts of the background.
Mouse can be moved, even some mouse-over events work. But clicking and
typing is not registered (not even ctrl-alt-f1). Only way to fix the
problem is to ssh in from outside and kill gnome-do. Then everything
works fine again.

[Bug 1065400] Re: Support for loading Broadcom bluetooth firmware

2014-11-03 Thread Thilo Cestonaro
So, I think I now know the problem.

Regarding this code snippet (3.16.7 btusb)
[CODE]
{ USB_VENDOR_AND_INTERFACE_INFO(0x0489, 0xff, 0x01, 0x01) },

/* Broadcom devices with vendor specific id */
{ USB_VENDOR_AND_INTERFACE_INFO(0x0a5c, 0xff, 0x01, 0x01),
  .driver_info = BTUSB_BCM_PATCHRAM },
[/CODE]
the patchram fw load function is only used with devices with VID 0x0a5c. Thats
not good, as my device is of VID 0x0489 and needs the broadcom fw too. :(

My device is a BCM 2070 ( 0489:e031 Foxconn / Hon Hai ).

How can I get the .driver_info = BTUSB_BCM_PATCHRAM }, into my btusb
module for the 0x0489 devices?

[Bug 1386653] Re: [TOPBLOCKER] Scopes fail to launch when the network stack is not up

2014-11-03 Thread Michi Henning
Doesn't look like it :-)

There could be a million reasons. In the absence of any other
information, I don't think we have a choice but to wait and see whether
it comes back. I could stare at our code for years without seeing the
bug (assuming there is one).

I guess the most important point here is that we need to beef up our
integration testing (in unity-scopes-api and elsewhere). We are working
on that at the moment…

Looks good, thanks! Someone already synced it

Note that it failed to build on powerpc

[Bug 1388094] Re: Slider component can have problems when binding value

2014-11-03 Thread Zsombor Egri
The live Slider value change is expected to get the value updated on
each move. I do not really see what could we improve in the component
there. Could you provide a small sample code that reproduces the binding
loop you worked around?

2014-11-03 Thread Tsvetomir Dimitrov
** Description changed:

After the system is suspended it doesn't recover. The screen remains black,
the lid still blinks (indicating that the laptop is suspended). The power
button also doesn't start the system.
  Bios version is 2.16.
- A workaround for this problem is to disable USB3 support from bios. The
problem is similar ot bug report #1331077.

[Bug 1384502] Re: fstab entry for nfs /home fails to mount on boot

2014-11-03 Thread Arne Bockholdt
Same here with an 14.10 AMD64 installation on a KVM machine.

The workaround with mount -a in rc.local doesn't help much for daemons
that need the mounted NFS share at startup. They're failing when the
mount isn't present at boot time.

I've stopped further deployment of Utopic until this bug has been fixed.
It is really a showstopper and needs a fix very soon.

[Bug 899955] Re: On login ignores setting, turns off screen after idle timeout

2014-11-03 Thread Jani Uusitalo
IN 12.04 at least, this seems to be tied to Xorg's blanking which by
default happens after 10 minutes/600 seconds. It can be unset via xset
on the commandline, but I finally managed to do this via xorg.conf, like
so:

jani@saegusa:~$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/*
Section Extensions
Option DPMS Disable
Option MIT-SCREEN-SAVER Disable
EndSection

Section Device
   Identifier Intel Graphics
   Driver intel
   Option DPMS Disable
EndSection

Section ServerFlags
Option NoPM true
EndSection

Section ServerLayout
Identifier X.org Configured
Option BlankTime 0
Option StandbyTime 0
Option SuspendTime 0
Option OffTime 0
EndSection

It could be that just the ServerLayout section is actually required (and
I'm not sure if other graphics drivers even have a DPMS option of their
own like intel does), as none of the other sections by themselves nor
together prevented the screen from turning off. (The most confusing one
is MIT-SCREEN-SAVER, which I thought was exactly what the xset timeouts
were controlling, but apparently not so, as disabling it does not
prevent the issue either.)

rfkill (0.5-1ubuntu2) vivid; urgency=medium

  * Ensure that rfkill devices have ID_PATH attribute:

- debian/rfkill.postinst: udev-trigger rfkill devices to ensure systemd
215-5ubuntu2's adjusted 99-systemd.rules are applied on upgrade.

[Bug 1386186] Re: Screen locking issue - account with no password set

2014-11-03 Thread Captain Zlog
Been doing some more investigation on this problem. Looked in System
Settings-Security Privacy and found on the Security tab that both
Waking from suspend and Returning from blank screen were both
checked, indicating password required in both cases. Unchecked both
items and the problem has now gone away - functionality is now as
expected. Not sure if these items were checked under 14.04 and just
ignored when resuming from suspend or whether the upgrade to 14.10
actually set these items. Bug can now be closed.

[Bug 1161962] Re: XPS 13 wakes up from suspend spontaneously

2014-11-03 Thread Gabriele
Since the wakeups are random and doing tests is complicated, I'd like to
ask to all of you with this problem to try the following.

First, run the following command:
cat /proc/acpi/wakeup

Look at all the devices that are able to wakeup the laptop (those with
*enabled) and for each of those (except for LID0), do the following:
sudo echo DEVICENAME /proc/acpi/wakeup

e.g.
sudo echo EHC1 /proc/acpi/wakeup

Check with the first command if all the devices are *disabled (except
for LID0 of course).

Note: these changes are not permament.

[Bug 1387420] Re: System freezes when performing a backup bash script

Thank you Christopher. I updated my BIOS.

The output to

09/27/2013

I will run my backup script a few times to see if the freezing still
happens. If it does, I will also try testing the latest upstream kernel

[Bug 1388754] [NEW] Toshiba nb550d screen does not turn on after hibernate

2014-11-03 Thread Severin Wünsch
Public bug reported:

I am currently using kernel 3.14.2-031402-generic on a Toshiba nb500d netbook
where everything works.
But on kernel 3.16.0-24-generic (default on lubuntu 14.10) after standby the
screen stays black I can heare the fan and and the disc spinning and all the
leds behave like starting from standby.

I also reported the Bug to
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87091 but noone did
response.

[Bug 1386838] Re: *renaming* of files on FAT32 formated external drives *not* possible

2014-11-03 Thread LAZA
Reading the info -- facepalm!

Is that drive formatted fat or ext? If it is formatted fat16 or fat32,
it will not see the names as different, since that file system does not
recognize such differences.

Shure this is right!

Would it be possible to fire/pop up a little notice about this behavior cause
- most of the LInux users do not use FAT16/FAT32 formated drives?
- would be also irritated about this...

Could be don if the drive is mounted/automounted in Gnome Commander?

For all others:
Just change the name a bit (by adding a 1 in first place or something) and
THEN change the misspelling and delete also the added 1...

[Bug 1388582] Re: Easynote MX65, AD1986A, No sound output in speakers/headphones, some with tricks

2014-11-03 Thread LukasThyWalls
Packard Bell Easynote MX65-042 is a Notebook. It have only two jacks:
Green Line Out and Pink Mic. It have too the internal speakers, and an
internal mic what never was detected and used in the past.

In HDA_Analyzer, I can view the HP option in Widget Control in both
Card 0, Codec 0, Node 0x1b PIN and Card 0, Codec 0, Node 0x1a, but
activating/deactivating them don't make any difference. I can make it
work with the option related above in report, and with HDA_Analyzer or
its script.

Maybe related: How i said, i tried all AD1986A models config names, including
laptop-automute (2-channel with EAPD and HP-automute), but all laptop,
laptop-eadp and laptop-automute (more information here
/usr/share/doc/alsa-base/driver/HD-Audio-Models.txt.gz) work in the same way:
Only with one of these options models name configured in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, without using HDA_Analyzer, i have sound with
the headphones, but i don't have any sound through the speakers, and with
HDA_Analyzer i haven't been able to bring back the sound through speakers with
any option i tested.
However, and for that i said in the last paragraph that the default model
config doesn't fit my computer in the report, with the model option
laptop-eapd (2-channel with EAPD), it detect all the conectors (like it said
in KDE Phonon configuration) when i plug them: Speakers and Headphones for
output, and Mic and Internal Mic for input, this last one i never see it before
and works, but i can't bring back the sound to the speakers, only with the
headphones. With the default config without models, the only connectors i have
is Analog Input and Microphone (The Pink mic Jack, the internal mic doesn't
do nothing), but i can bring back the sound to normal like always with
HDA_Analyzer and its script. Like i said, first, i only want to bring back a
normal and working basic configuration, and after, if i can make bring back the
Internal Mic working, it would be better, but first it's first.

[Bug 1388759] [NEW] powersaving/screensaver UnInhibit method times out over DBus

2014-11-03 Thread Paulius Vitkus
Public bug reported:

I use Inhibit/UnInhibit methods over dbus (name: 'org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver',
path: '/ScreenSaver', interface: 'org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver') to control
computers power saving. In Trusty (14.04) everything works fine. In Utopic
(14.10) I noticed that UnInhibit delays its reply for about 25 seconds.
Tested using python-dbus and GDBus from python-gi. When calling this method
synchronously with default timeout I get an error (NoReply). This kind of
behavior can brake many applications dependent on this functionality.
Increasing timeout over 25 seconds seems to help but it is a long time for
application to freeze. Calling method with noreply flag helps to execute
UnInhibit instantly from applications side but next call to Inhibit still
delays.

[Bug 1383410] Re: gcc PR 58854 - 4.8.1 and 4.8.2 are known to miscompile the ARM kernel

2014-11-03 Thread Timo
@Paolo: Do you know when this fix was applied and rolled out on Ubuntu
Trusty?

I'm asking because I can't find it mentioned in the changelogs and I
want to find out, if some of the stuff I compiled might be affected. If
I knew when the fix was rolled out, I could narrow that down. Thank you.

[Bug 1388769] [NEW] incomplete boot of lubuntu-14.10 with all kernels 3.18

2014-11-03 Thread volker kempter
Public bug reported:

kernels 3.18-rcx (x=1,2,3) and 3.18.0-1:

boot process obviously ends before normal termination.
After finishing booting, there are the following problems and observations:
-boot process takes unusually long,
-horizontal task bar is missing,
- I can use normal terminal commands, such as uname -a, BUT cannot use sudo
commands, such as sudo update-grub,
- no wifi,
- cannot access synaptic.

Other remarks: no problems with any 3.16 kernels nor with kernels 3.17,
including 3.17.2.
In a virtual Lubuntu-14.10 machine in VB I can boot lubuntu-14.10 under all
3.18 kernels without problem.

The boot problem is found for the Dell e6500, but not for the much older
Dell Latitude D505 (all 3.18 kernels boot correctly).

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2014-11-03 Thread Cottet Davy
Public bug reported:

I recently upgrade my Xubuntu PC from 14.04 x64 to 14.10 x64.

I got a wrong theme with qbittorrent so I did a fresh install (os +
qbittorrent).

It's the same :

I don't know whether it'a problem of qbittorrent package or qt or
anything else...
