[Bug 1388734] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: Happens every time I start gnome-do. gnome-do window will alocate some screen space but not show and only mirror some parts of the background. Mouse can be moved, even some mouse-over events work. But clicking and typing is not registered (not even ctrl-alt-f1). Only way to fix the problem is to ssh in from outside and kill gnome-do. Then everything works fine again. So, I think I now know the problem. Regarding this code snippet (3.16.7 btusb) [CODE] { USB_VENDOR_AND_INTERFACE_INFO(0x0489, 0xff, 0x01, 0x01) }, /* Broadcom devices with vendor specific id */ { USB_VENDOR_AND_INTERFACE_INFO(0x0a5c, 0xff, 0x01, 0x01), .driver_info = BTUSB_BCM_PATCHRAM }, [/CODE] the patchram fw load function is only used with devices with VID 0x0a5c. Thats not good, as my device is of VID 0x0489 and needs the broadcom fw too. :( My device is a BCM 2070 ( 0489:e031 Foxconn / Hon Hai ). [Bug 1386653] Re: [TOPBLOCKER] Scopes fail to launch when the network stack is not up
Doesn't look like it :-) There could be a million reasons. In the absence of any other information, I don't think we have a choice but to wait and see whether it comes back. I could stare at our code for years without seeing the bug (assuming there is one). I guess the most important point here is that we need to beef up our integration testing (in unity-scopes-api and elsewhere). It can be unset via xset on the commandline, but I finally managed to do this via xorg.conf, like so: jani@saegusa:~$ cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/* Section Extensions Option DPMS Disable Option MIT-SCREEN-SAVER Disable EndSection Section Device Identifier Intel Graphics Driver intel Option DPMS Disable EndSection Section ServerFlags Option NoPM true EndSection Section ServerLayout Identifier X.org Configured Option BlankTime 0 Option StandbyTime 0 Option SuspendTime 0 Option OffTime 0 EndSection It could be that just the ServerLayout section is actually required (and I'm not sure if other graphics drivers even have a DPMS option of their own like intel does), as none of the other sections by themselves nor together prevented the screen from turning off. (The most confusing one is MIT-SCREEN-SAVER, which I thought was exactly what the xset timeouts were controlling, but apparently not so, as disabling it does not prevent the issue either.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899955 Title: On login ignores setting, turns off screen after idle timeout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/899955/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1388582] Re: Easynote MX65, AD1986A, No sound output in speakers/headphones, some with tricks
Packard Bell Easynote MX65-042 is a Notebook. It have only two jacks: Green Line Out and Pink Mic. It have too the internal speakers, and an internal mic what never was detected and used in the past. In HDA_Analyzer, I can view the HP option in Widget Control in both Card 0, Codec 0, Node 0x1b PIN and Card 0, Codec 0, Node 0x1a, but activating/deactivating them don't make any difference. I can make it work with the option related above in report, and with HDA_Analyzer or its script. Maybe related: How i said, i tried all AD1986A models config names, including laptop-automute (2-channel with EAPD and HP-automute), but all laptop, laptop-eadp and laptop-automute (more information here /usr/share/doc/alsa-base/driver/HD-Audio-Models.txt.gz) work in the same way: Only with one of these options models name configured in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, without using HDA_Analyzer, i have sound with the headphones, but i don't have any sound through the speakers, and with HDA_Analyzer i haven't been able to bring back the sound through speakers with any option i tested. However, and for that i said in the last paragraph that the default model config doesn't fit my computer in the report, with the model option laptop-eapd (2-channel with EAPD), it detect all the conectors (like it said in KDE Phonon configuration) when i plug them: Speakers and Headphones for output, and Mic and Internal Mic for input, this last one i never see it before and works, but i can't bring back the sound to the speakers, only with the headphones. With the default config without models, the only connectors i have is Analog Input and Microphone (The Pink mic Jack, the internal mic doesn't do nothing), but i can bring back the sound to normal like always with HDA_Analyzer and its script. Like i said, first, i only want to bring back a normal and working basic configuration, and after, if i can make bring back the Internal Mic working, it would be better, but first it's first. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388582 Title: Easynote MX65, AD1986A, No sound output in speakers/headphones, some with tricks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1388582/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1388759] [NEW] powersaving/screensaver UnInhibit method times out over DBus
Public bug reported: I use Inhibit/UnInhibit methods over dbus (name: 'org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver', path: '/ScreenSaver', interface: 'org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver') to control computers power saving. In Trusty (14.04) everything works fine. In Utopic (14.10) I noticed that UnInhibit delays its reply for about 25 seconds. Tested using python-dbus and GDBus from python-gi. When calling this method synchronously with default timeout I get an error (NoReply). This kind of behavior can brake many applications dependent on this functionality. Increasing timeout over 25 seconds seems to help but it is a long time for application to freeze. Calling method with noreply flag helps to execute UnInhibit instantly from applications side but next call to Inhibit still delays. ** Affects: unity-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: - I use Inhibit/UnInhibit methods over dbus (name: 'org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver', path: '/ScreenSaver', interface: 'org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver') to control computers power saving. [Bug 1383410] Re: gcc PR 58854 - 4.8.1 and 4.8.2 are known to miscompile the ARM kernel
@Paolo: Do you know when this fix was applied and rolled out on Ubuntu Trusty? I'm asking because I can't find it mentioned in the changelogs and I want to find out, if some of the stuff I compiled might be affected. If I knew when the fix was rolled out, I could narrow that down. [Bug 1388769] [NEW] incomplete boot of lubuntu-14.10 with all kernels 3.18
Public bug reported: kernels 3.18-rcx (x=1,2,3) and 3.18.0-1: boot process obviously ends before normal termination. After finishing booting, there are the following problems and observations: -boot process takes unusually long, -horizontal task bar is missing, - I can use normal terminal commands, such as uname -a, BUT cannot use sudo commands, such as sudo update-grub, - no wifi, - cannot access synaptic. Other remarks: no problems with any 3.16 kernels nor with kernels 3.17, including 3.17.2. In a virtual Lubuntu-14.10 machine in VB I can boot lubuntu-14.10 under all 3.18 kernels without problem. The boot problem is found for the Dell e6500, but not for the much older Dell Latitude D505 (all 3.18 kernels boot correctly). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388769 Title: incomplete boot of lubuntu-14.10 with all kernels 3.18 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1388769/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
