[Bug 363785] Re: kernel 2.6.28-3-rt doesn't boot

2009-10-24 Thread Dennis Prochko
No, this is not fixed in Karmic Koala. Just have upgraded to Karmic, but
the (similar) problem still exists: the system hangs (freeze) after boot
(mouse cursor doesn't moving, Num Lock doesn't work), so only hardware
reset helps to reboot.

P.S. The hardware is the same as above, using proprietary NVIDIA driver
(from the repository).

[Bug 362603] Re: ODBCConfig fails on configure existing data source

2009-09-10 Thread Dennis Prochko
Thank you for interesting of this bug!

I've doing some experiments and here are the results:

This is not reproduced on clean installation of Ubuntu Karmic i386. The
package version is same, the steps are same, but works as expected. But,
on my Ubuntu Jaunty (x86_64) it is 100% reproducible. The differences
are the CPU and configuration file. I have found that my ODBC
configuration file is the source of this bug.

== part of /etc/odbcinst.ini file ==
[Text File]
Description = Text File ODBC driver
Driver  = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbctxt.so
Driver64  =
Setup  = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbctxtS.so
Setup64  =
UsageCount  = 1
CPTimeout   =
CPReuse =
== end of part ==

When Setup64 parameter is missing, the ODBCConfig crushes as I have
described above. When Setup64 is equal to Setup parameter - all fine -
dialog appears.

So, with this configuration file ODBCConfig works as expected:

== part of /etc/odbcinst.ini file ==
[Text File]
Description = Text File ODBC driver
Driver  = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbctxt.so
Driver64  = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbctxt.so
Setup  = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbctxtS.so
Setup64  = /usr/lib/odbc/libodbctxtS.so
UsageCount  = 1
CPTimeout   =
CPReuse =
== end of part ==

It will be great to fix the bug. IMHO, the program should show message
box with error message on invalid or incomplete parameters, but
shouldn't crash. Good luck with bugfixing and thank you again.

[Bug 362548] Re: Broken packages dependencies

2009-04-18 Thread Dennis Prochko
Yes, I have check my /etc/apt/sources.list for unofficial repositories.
There was none of them.

The problem was that I have used one of unofficial repository some time
before upgrading to 9.04. This repository contains more recent libgnutls
then 8.10 official repositories. After my experiments have been
completed, the appropriate line from sources.list has been removed. But
the library remains installed. After upgrade, new official library does
not replace existing version. By downloading the libgnutls26 deb file
and installing it via dpkg utility I have resolved all dependencies.
Thanks :)

Binary package hint: unixodbc

When enabling pooling in /etc/odbcinst.ini file, simple program crashes
when SQLConnect called several times. When pooling is disabled, all
works fine. The segmentation fault occurs in the SQLConnect function.

Test program example:

#include sqltypes.h
#include sql.h
#include sqlext.h

int main(int argc, char *argv[]) {
SQLHENV henv;
SQLHDBC hdbc;
int i;
while (1) {
SQLAllocHandle(SQL_HANDLE_ENV, SQL_NULL_HANDLE, henv);
SQLSetEnvAttr(henv, SQL_ATTR_ODBC_VERSION,

SQLDisconnect(hdbc);
SQLFreeHandle(SQL_HANDLE_DBC, hdbc);
SQLFreeHandle(SQL_HANDLE_ENV, henv);
}
}

When investigating this error with ODBCConfig utility I noted that when
pooling is disabled all stats shown as expected (picture 1); otherwise
connections grows unexpectingly and after counters are too big, test
program fails (picture 2).

P.S. On the www.unixodbc.org there is newer version of the library with
many fixes; may be this error already fixed in this version. My current
configuration:

[Bug 362603] [NEW] ODBCConfig fails on configure existing data source

2009-04-16 Thread Dennis Prochko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unixodbc

When trying to configure any previously added datasource, the ODBCConfig
program fails with the following text in the console:

$ ODBCConfig
ODBCConfig: libltdl/ltdl.c:1178: try_dlopen: Assertion `filename  *filename'
failed.
Aborted

How to reproduce it: start ODBCConfig, select any data source from the
User DSN or System DSN tab, click on the Configure... button. The
program crashes.

Expected behaviour: the data source edit dialog should appear.

P.S.

[Bug 339916] [NEW] LShift-RShift dosent work

Public bug reported:

Both shift keys layout switch option doesn't work. However, Ctrl-
Shift, Alt-Shift and other options are OK. My old XOrg.conf layout
options are commented out by HAL, so I think it's xkeyboard-config bug.

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-14 Thread Dennis Prochko
The main problem is the most of you think that most ununtu users are
newbie dumbasses. They will be disappointed when no Fox under the
globe will be on the desktop, huh! Will all these users be disapponted
reading bla-bla-bla lawyers shit? Will all these users understand what
they are signed by click on the I agree checkbox? If the EULA will be
displayed only when installing firefox first time to person who
installing it, are another users of the system automatically agreed with
EULA? What about non-Mozilla patches, are they used in the ubuntu
system?

Users are not dumbasses. They want stable, quick and web-standards
compiant web-browser, not a brand, but *a browser*. It can be any of
browsers exist - not just firefox, so:

1. Firefox should be transferred into non-free repository, to provide an option
for the brand-ofilies.
2. Debian's Iceweasel should be transferred into the main repository as the
replacement for the firefox browser. You can continue rebranding for newbies,
naming it The Web Browser (as Totem player simply named as The Video
Player), Gnome HIG recommends this, however.
3. The alternative for the Gecko-based browsers should be provided - because
the engine is still under Mozilla's control (and we don't predict what they are
invited in future), and it is not met to the *quick browser* criteria. New
Gnome will be with Epiphany/Webkit browser by default. Good candidate to the
default web browser in the Ubuntu.

This story reminds me XFree/XOrg license wars. And where now is XFree
and where now is XOrg? ;)

[Bug 241659] [NEW] setting WPA2 disables WiFi on boot until manual network restarting

2008-06-20 Thread Dennis Prochko
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.04

When setting up WPA2 encryption in /etc/network/interfaces by text
editor or by Network Manager connection with AP estabishled fine, but
after reboot wlan0 interface is not working. Only manual network
restarting (sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart) helps to up and
configure the interface after booting.

The similar problem is described at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1351902postcount=2 but a
workaround is a dirty hack, IMHO.

[Bug 51914] Can't install system on raid/lvm

2006-07-04 Thread Dennis Prochko
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

The ubuntu live cd succesfully detect my raid and lvm volumes on
existing system, but ubuntu live installer shows me only drive
partitions as targets for installation - no raid, no lvm volumes.
Moreover, i can't enter valid mount points by hand because ubiquity uses
menu list rather than simply edit fields for it.

Aaaargh! Just received disk from shipit, but it is unusable for me :(
