inactive versions
I am wondering if perhaps something in the file path is being seen as different

I don't use it or know much about it but I think it allows you to backup
the changed bytes/blocks of a file on a laptop rather than the whole
changed file.

place similar unit at remote site and have copypool kept there with data
center tapes updating those at the remote site overnight. Com would be VPN
using mapped network drive.

is one way to go. To do this, enable subfile backup.
Second, if you do not want backups to run at all, blocking the ports
