[Desktop-packages] [Bug 515154] Re: Sound freeze when changing volume since Ubuntu 9.10

2020-03-05 Thread Majik Bear
Well that's one way to resolve a bug:

Accuse the user of not trying hard enough, then wait ten years and close
the bug because the product it was reported on is no longer supported.

Way to go, guys. Let's all give Ubuntu's bug management staff a big
hand.

When the fullscreen button on the toolbar is used with multiple

To replicate on a computer with multiple displays:

  1. Launch Remmina.
  2. Connect to a computer using RDP protocol.
  3. Click the full screen button.

The application flips over to the other display and goes full screen.

  4. Restore the application.

[gnome-mud] Is this project dead?

2010-09-13 Thread majik
Hello,

I've been looking for a good MUD client for Gnome, but it seems that most of
the projects have been dead for a long time.

I don't want to use a MUD client that has no hope of bug fixes.

I noticed the last post to the mailing list was last year and that the last
release was also a long time ago.

Is this project dead?

Thanks,

Can't log on to AIM account via Pidgin but can via AOL's AIM client

2010-08-18 Thread majik
I can't log on to my AIM account via Pidgin but can via AOL's AIM client. This
is at my place of employment. I know for a fact I was able to log on to AIM via
Pidgin a while back but all of a sudden it stopped working. What I don't get is
that AOL's AIM client still works that leads me to believe that it's not a
firewall issue. Although the IT dept allows for IM clients, they won't
support/troubleshoot it as it is not essential for daily business activity. I
am running the latest version of Pidgin - 2.7.3. Anybody know what's going on?
What should my settings be? I messed with them so much I don't even know what
should be the default settings. I've also tried completely
uninstalling/reinstalling Pidgin.

Thanks!

This issue's been discussed on the soundtracker mailing list, months ago.

Here's a quote from Yury Aliaev, a Soundtracker contributor :

quote
In the current state of ST such a thing (multichannel output) is almost
impossible because of the monolitic structure of the mixer code. The
optimal way to solve this is (I mean) rewriting the whole mixer in the
modular way. This also will make ST more flexible and universal and, in
particular, will make adding new effects (including LADSPA processing)
more easy.

Currently I have some ideas how to do this (but still have no free time
for this :( ), but there is another way: libremix written by Conrad
Parker (see remix.sf.net) seems to be good for this purpose.
/quote

A question I asked, a few weeks later :

quote

About per track JACK outputs : In your answer to Emiliano Grilli, on
june 1st, you explain that this needs a big rewrite. But do you
believe a sort of hack is possible ? Like a small patch that lies
around for those (I like JACK :) who need this feature before
soundtracker engine gets rewritten... If yes, any advise ? Does it
imply playing with the mixer assembly routines ?

/quote

And Yury's answer :

quote
Unfortunately, it will be a havy hack of assembler routines :( Because
they mix sounds from different channels directly after resampling,
rather then write to the separate buffers and then mix them. This is why
I decided to rewrite the mixer entirely rather then inventing kludges...
/quote

Hope it helps... Yury may have started to rewrite the mixer.

Regards

Yes, I did see this, I just wanted to re-illuminate the topic and appeal
through LAD to see if anyone did have some free time to develop this, as I
feel it would be such a great feature.

guitar strings

2004-12-04 Thread majik
Hello,
I am writing up a composition for my degree in Music using lilypond. It
is a composition for guitar, and what i wish to do is put a circle around a
number to show which string the note is being played on. My lilypond version
is 2.4.2 and I am running SuSe 9.1 OS.

I have tried the following, which produces a circle, but does not display the
number in the circle, and I get errors when lilypond is invoked:

CODE THAT IVE TRIED:
ais8 a _\markup {\\textcircled{tiny 1}}

AND

_$\\!$ \\textcircled{\\textsc{1}}

both give the folowing results:

OUTPUT:
Preprocessing graphical objects... programming error: Script direction not yet
known!
Continuing; crossing fingers

PDF:
Displays a circle, no text

Can you please help me do this somehow?!

s rpm gets installed by selecting and installing the dependencies by itself
s instead of prompting me to install everything.

 Check out Xine... http://xine.sourceforge.net/

It is well documented and will also point you to where you can download the
drivers for viewing avi and Divx;)

You can also go to http://freshrpms.net/ to get RPMS.

You may still run into dependencies, but it is all according to what you
 have already installed.

 Have fun,
