After moving from F37 to F36 and re-installing a user directory (with dot files) I discover that login for that user fails. No messages in /var/log, no error message. I assume that the problem is somewhere in one of the dot files. Any suggestions? Thanks.

OT: problems with xsane

The Brother DS-640 is a USB-interfaces document scanner. I've been attempting to use it with the Xsane app. All I get is a 1/2" vertical stripe. AFAIK there is no option to Xsane that effects the displayed scan. OTOH, I've tried two DS-640 with the same result Any pointers? Thanks.

Device vendor insists on a netmask 255.255.0.0, so % ifconfig eno1 169.254.10.6 netmask 255.255.0.0 which changes netmask, but it soon reverts to the original value 255.255.255.255 ifdown/ifup does not change the situation Any ideas? ___ users mailing

I've just installed Fedora 35 and have discovered to my dismay that previously-working (not at all sophisticated) audio no longer works. Is there a 'Getting Started With pipewire' and/or wireplumber somewhere? Or should they 'just work' and I need to check my connections? Thanks.
