Hi
Smart Reporting is a huge update.
Not much updates to Incident. They have removed the classic views.

Yeah, doing further research and trying out their trial on BMC.con, it
seems it heavy on the Smart IT front. Not much changes, I can see, from
the classic Remedy IM.
We are going to upgrade a 'play' environment at our company. Will let you
know how it goes..

Has anyone actually installed (or seen) Incident Management/Service Desk 9? If
so, aside from some AR System enhancements they added are there any notable
updates?
They are marketing Remedy 9 with SmartIT, but frankly all I see is SmartIT and
no Remedy.

Misi,
How does RRR|Chive handle moving from 7.6.04 SP5 to 8.1 SP2 and Attributes?

Just another thing about Delta Migrator that's bugging me. We've had some
problems with it and produced a document to BMC about some of the issues (look
to the Communities page where I'll be posting some Tips and Tricks that are
not documented in the official BMC Docs about Delta Migrator).
Hi,
You can certainly migrate slices of the data in a form using RRR|Chive. You
just add a normal qualification line with the Advanced Search syntax.
qual = ('Field' = XYZ)
You would also typically skip the merge filters entirely to prevent the target
server of controling/changing the data:
Thanks Misi!
We've had some problems with Delta Migrator going from 7.6.04 SP5 to 8.1 SP2
and one of the problems was that it took all records in the Base Element form
and created records on the AST:Attribute form (which is new on 8.1 SP2). The
problem is that if you have more than one data
Hi,
RRR|Chive does not know anything about differences in application versions.
It moved data readily between AR System Servers of different versions.
What exactly do you mean by attributes?
If fields from one form has been split up into different forms, or vice versa,
it might be difficult to
There's a good webinar about Remedy Version 9:

There hasn't been any new UI functionality added to Remedy 9, everything UI
based is being moved into Smart IT. The big updates in Remedy 9 includes the
following:
Smart Reporting
Archiving
Full Java Plugins
Workflow data Elevation tool
On-boarding Wizard for Data Load utility
Restful APIs
I think the biggest difference between RRRChive and DDM is that with DDM you
can only use it when you have a direct copy of your source database as your
target database. So in essence, you can only use DDM on upgrades where you are
using the BMC parallel upgrade strategy. If you were to do a
To expand on this a little, the impression I get is we will not see many
substantial changes to the Mid Tier ITSM UI. There are many Ideas submitted
for the normal ITSM UI that are being closed out as delivered because
Smart IT now provides the capability/enhancement requested.

Remedy ITSM 9.0 release is certainly a bit more platform centric, if we leave
Smart IT/MyIT out of the discussion for a second. The platform modernization
is a huge investment into the future of Remedy.
But there are a number of enhancements that are very relevant for the Service

Meta-Update is designed to migrate data with value, record, form changes along
the way. So, when migrating the CMDB, you can create AST:Attribute records at
will and incidentally also move from the Virtual Computer System class to
Computer System, move Changes to Releases, and so on.
With
Jeff it was mentioned in the webinar that all the core ARS code is now 100%
Java. Some of the plugins are still not ported to Java however. The REST API is
also a new addition to ARS. No doubt the biggest push from a marketing
standpoint is for the new UX via SmartIT though.
