On the way home from birding the Montezuma area yesterday afternoon, we saw a white wing Turkey Vulture over the DEC check station. It drifted low over the station, so we were able to get an excellent look at the white pattern. It eventually moved north and out of sight. Suzanne in Ithaca

Hi all, I've been away for the last while, and so I'm not sure if people have had their fill chasing BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, but at about 8 AM this morning I saw a flock of 90 perched in the trees a bit to the west of the white barn (Kip's Barn) in Sapsucker Woods. As far as I could tell with

As of about 10 minutes ago, these birds flew off over the woods along the powerlines/parallel to route 13. But they seem to like that spot, so it's worth checking every so often. Other birds of note in that spot include singing PURPLE FINCH and FIELD SPARROW, along with several Phoebes. - Brad

I checked out the east side of Dryden Lake park this morning. A Ring-necked Pheasant was calling loudly, and spring peepers AND woodfrogs were chorusing too. A female Hairy Woodpecker was drumming. Tree Swallows have arrived in force, and the local Eastern Bluebirds (who still have no nest) now

This morning on a walk along the Schug trail by Dryden Lake, we heard but did not see a Swamp Sparrow in the swamp near the east end. Waterfowl seen: Pied-billed Grebes, Hooded Merganser, Common Mergansers (seven females flew in with a lone male), Ring-necked Ducks, Buffleheads, 3 pairs of N.

Update (5:30): The Bohemian Waxwings are gone for now. A large flock (100+) of Bohemian Waxwings came over fairly high from the north (airport area), and then all the close-in birds started calling loudly and they all took off and joined the large flock heading south. All except for 1 bird that
