Hmmm. I just subscribed to the CFCommunity list. Is it OK to post anything to
this list?
Fine by me... just want to understand the guidelines of the Community list.
Been on CF Talk list for years... this one list is new to me.
Thanks,
Robert
Welcome. We'll let Erika give you the muffin (long running joke
there), but the list was originally created to handle any off topic
stuff from CF-Talk. Since then its evolved into its own community.
Briefly put nearly anything goes - if we object you'll know about it.
We're pretty welcoming here
Hey Robert, welcome. There is no such thing as off topic here. Well, maybe
the only thing off topic is questions about CF.

Welcome and I'd concur with Zaphod there. Anything off-topic for cf-talk is
on-topic for cf-community and vice-versa.
Cheers,
Judah

Hey we still can talk CF here - I get a better response for my CF
issues here than on CF-Talk or the Guru mailing list. (This place is
more entertaining as well).

Hmm...maybe. But I reserve the right to lie about the answer, since it is

Plus, a bunch of us dont necessarily use CF anymore so youre likely to get a
deprecated answer ;)

True dat. I don't think I've done anything in CF in...3 years? Though I do
miss it at times, just haven't had a good reason to program in it.

Actually after being out of CF for a while I'll be starting a brand
new CF job at the end of May.
BTW anyone in the DC area looking for a CF job? Booz-Allen is looking
for several CF developers - there's also a possibility of the position
being remote. Email me for the details or I can put you
In my new job (well, itÂs still new even though itÂs almost been a year),
itÂs 70% ruby, 10% javascript/node, 5% Bash, 5% Erlang, %5 Elixir 5% C++
really cool ecosphere to be in.

I'm doing almost all C# and SQL at the moment on a big ETL project.
Hopefully adding in some AngularJS in a bit. Also starting a side project
in Go working with the Orchestrate.io service.
I'm curious about how the Erlang, C++, and Bash get mixed in for you. And
never even heard of Elixir :)
The company IÂm working for is a real-time bidding platform for internet
advertising.
Our bidder is written in C++ for speed reasons,
Web app is built in ruby/rails because, well Rails ;) - This is where I spend
most of my time
Erlang is used for several smaller services inside of our org.
That's awesome. I was just looking at Elixir and it sure looks like Ruby
for Erlang, which is fascinating. Cool stuff.

Welcome Robert,
I hope you have thick skin, as the conversations trend toward US politics
and can get pretty heated at times :-)
Still, it's all great fun and many have been on this list 10+ years!
