Cobirders,
A female RIVOLI'S HUMMINGBIRD was at the feeders at the Fountain Creek
Nature Center at 11am today, observed by Jeff Hayes, Ron Goerzen and
myself. It was feeding next to a Broad-tailed Hummingbird, and the size
difference was remarkable--around 5" versus around 3 1/2". Extremely
Today while birding at gateway natural area in fort Collins me and my
family observed a bird that I was unable to identify even after extensive
research. The bird had a completely black body and a deep blue head. We saw
this bird twice in two different locations so there may be multiple. One

I just had an orchard oriole outside my bedroom window. I am on WCR 398 in

Just as a point of information, the State Wildlife Area Steve Mlodinow is
referring to,
along the South Platte River in Weld County, has the formal name of:

The State Wildlife Area with a similar name,
Each State Wildlife Area is managed under specific rules. It is a good idea for

I. Any
Is that true even if we have bought a fishing license and the other pass (as
well as the state parks pass)? I just spent like $80 for a fishing license I
won’t use in order to contribute to the state and be able to bird places. If we

Know that Centennial - one of the finest accesses to the Platte I the CO Plains
is closed to non Turkey hunters until end of turkey season and then closed to
all - fine $200. Insult to injury given the new access fee. For decades
hunters and fisher-folks have funded these areas.
Hi
Probably not that unusual of a sighting, but what could be unusual was that it
was resting on a small bare branch, forty to fifty feet up in a dense spruce
tree in our backyard. Makes one wonder how often does this happen and if so
could there be more Common Nighthawks migrating through
Hi CoBirders
I saw a female Hairy Woodpecker the former Lowell Ponds wildlife area this
morning, May 23. Wings were almost all black with only tiny white spots
along outside primaries. The last Hairy i saw in this area was during the
winter of 2014.
