Re: Upload permission for PySide

2010-10-12 Thread Didier 'OdyX' Raboud
Le lundi 11 octobre 2010 20:40:03 Adam D. Barratt, vous avez écrit :
To be honest, I'm inclined to agree with Julien here, at least in terms
of not being keen on the idea of importing the chain from experimental
 to testing at this point.

The fact that those packages are already an upstream version behind does
leave me with a worry that they'll be obsolete already by the time
 Squeeze is released.

Okay,

I was hard to convince, but now I am: let's remove those 4 from testing. In
order to allow Squeeze users to use PySide, I will probably handle backports.
In
the meantime, new upstream versions will land in unstable.

This would then be (as removals from testing) :

RM: apiextractor/0.6.0-1
RM: generatorrunner/0.5.0-1
RM: shiboken/0.3.2-3
RM: pyside/0.3.2-3

Do you want bugreports for those ?

Thanks for your patience and time !

Cheers,

OdyX

Fixes for python-pyopencl and new upsteam release

2010-10-12 Thread Tomasz Rybak
Hello.
I am maintaining python-pytools/main an python-pyopencl/contrib
Yesterday there have been few bugs opened against python-pyopencl:
#599782 (FTBFS on i386), #599872 #599874, #599875 (wrong values
in package metadata - Vcs-*, Maintainer, missing copyright).

I also need to update python-pyopencl because of changes in NVIDIA
drivers, especially move of developer headers to new package
khronos-opencl-headers (ITP #598477).

Currently testing contains pyopencl in version 0.92~beta+git20100709-1.
On 2010-09-20 upstream released final 0.92.
Differences between Debian version and final include:
* fixing array type, used to cooperate with numpy
* fixing cooperation between OpenCL and OpenGL
* preparing package for Python 3.0
* fixing execution of kernels (small functions) on new NVIDIA hardware

There has been 24 changes in upstream between version in Debian
and final 0.92. From those maybe 6 are not needed - documentation
and example fixes, fixing Python setup (which is disabled in package),
fixing Windows bug. If I would to backport fixes for errors, I would
need to include more than half of changes made by upstream.

There is no package that depends on python-pyopencl.
I am working on python-sailfish, but I have not yet proposed
inclusion of it into Debian (ITP has not yet been filled).
Sailfish and unit tests of pyopencl run without problems

My question is - will new version (final instead of beta) of pyopencl
be accepted into Squeeze, or should I just fix bugs that are opened
in BTS and release -2 version?

Best regards.

unblock request for sisu 2.7.6-1 (reliability fixes for Squeeze (as documented))

2010-10-12 Thread Ralph Amissah
Severity: normal

Please unblock sisu 2.7.6 for Squeeze.

(this is an updated version of the unblock request for 2.7.5, that was sent
recently on 2010-10-10 and which had not yet been acted upon, if you are
working on that only the git commits and debian/changelog for 2.7.6 have been
added to the request)

Development of sisu has been frozen in sync with the Squeeze freeze, and
changes relate to code fixes or documentation, in this case primarily code
fixes.

The current version in testing is 2.7.2-1

The changes in 2.7.3, 2.7.4, 2.7.5 and 2.7.6 are fixes Squeeze (primarily code
rather than documentation updates).

fixes include:

* codeblock line-continuation backslashes were dropped, this is fixed
* odf breaks with the use of angle brackets in certain circumstances, fixed
* odf images missing, fixed
* images used to scale (html, epub, odt, pdf), scaling enabled through
  correction of regex
* other minor fixes as documented

Testing of sisu may have been a bit more rigorous since debian-live recently
started using sisu with debian-live, both the responsibility of making sure it
works for that project (sisu was not originally designed for technical
writing), and a number of the fixes were for issues found by others, (in the
case of this unblock request Mark Schneider who is active in debian-live with
the live-manual) as documented below.

I am upstream for sisu the development of which has likewise been frozen since
the Debian freeze to ensure a stable sisu version release with Squeeze. Freeze
development moved upstream to the 2.7 series from debian.changes after 2.6.3
(with 2.6.3-6 being the same as 2.7.0-1 changelogs apart). All subsequent
freeze code fixes (and any documentation updates/corrections) have been in the
upstream tarball apart from updating the debian/changelog as needed. [aside on
why it become necessary to move changes back upstream to provide an upstream
tarball for a bug in ruby1.9.2 with sisu]: As explained in an earlier unblock
request, the change in upstream numbering (working upstream and opening 2.7
series as opposed to patching 2.6.3) is, (apart from my being upstream for sisu
and the the diff starting to become unnecessarily large), that there is an
issue with ruby 1.9.2 (which segfaults) filed as a bug against ruby, that is
easier to test with a current upstream tarball, so work on sisu which is
currently only on Debian release (freeze) issues moved upstream to the 2.7
series. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=597953 )

For the convenience of the Release Team I append the debian/changelog and the
online git repository.

I get to a stage where I expect this unblock request to be my last for Squeeze
[written for 2.7.5 unblock request, in light of which it is revealed to be an
unwise statement]. (But I/we continue to seek bugs, and we will continue to try
fix code to make it as fit as it can be for Squeeze). I think this round of
fixes justifies an unblock request, which I hope the release team will see fit
to grant.

Thanks Release Team, for your work (and for your patience). Thanks Julien
Cristau, Mehdi Dogguy and Neil McGovern for previous unblocks on sisu (and
sister package sisu-markup-samples).

Thank you,
Ralph Amissah

Freeze exception for roxterm 1.18.5-3

2010-10-12 Thread Tony Houghton
Hi,

Please could a freeze exception be made for roxterm 1.18.5-3 which fixes
bug 598971. Although there are no reported symptoms in Debian the faulty
code contributed to quite a serious problem in Ubuntu ie a terminal
emulator failing to set TERM to something useful. And as the fix is very
small I think the safer option is to include this new version in
Squeeze.

NB the package has already been sponsored and uploaded to unstable by
Kumar Appaiah.

permission for uploading claws-mail 3.7.6-3

2010-10-12 Thread Ricardo Mones

  Hi release team!

Though not RC, this upload will fix two bugs, one of them important
because it basically defeats the purpose of the claws-mail-doc package [0]
and makes Claws Mail open the online version of the manuals instead. Also,
the existing German language translation is added to the package.

Changes are trivial (patch attached), so I hope this can be accepted.

Bug#600018: Pre-upload approval for python-bottle/0.8.4-1

2010-10-12 Thread David Paleino
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hello RT,
I have a new upstream version of python-bottle (0.8.4, currently 0.8.2-1 in sid
and 0.8.3-1 in experimental), which fixes a couple of bugs. Not much important,
but would be nice to have them pushed in Squeeze, since the fixes are tiny and
cause no harm, even if they don't meet the freeze criteria.

I'm attaching a git diff from the tagged debian/0.8.2-1. Would such an upload
be unblocked?

Thank you for your work,
David

#564345. (Although does appear to have built successfully everywhere

Not sure what to do here. Of course, I could apply Ralf's patch and
re-upload...but I fail to see how it's related to the reported
issue. Moreover, having the package built on all buildd's seems to
suggest that the RC bug can be downgraded.

I was also unable to replicate the bug on amd64 and the log seems... odd
(the bug title is also misleading as the failed to remove `build-' is
in clean and expected).

So that just leaves us with the question of whether we want to
reintroduce an orphaned leaf package. Admittedly, if the FTBFS hadn't
lain unattended for a few months then it might never have been removed
in the first place...

I don't think that the forced merge of #599848 and the severity of #145257 is
adequate if it's not possible to detect these issues either when migrating
packages to testing, or if no rebuild tests are made.

kthxbye and cheers, Matthias

 So err, pretty big.

I think there may have been a small misunderstanding there. :-)

You said that upgrading to 0.17 would make the size of repositories
increase in size, and I was wondering how big that increase was.

Admittedly if there aren't many users of the old version then it may not
be a particular issue in practice.
