Fill half the slots with 3G modules and the other half with non proxy DFEs and
you'll have two seperate chassis.

To get the C3s to route between the vlans, you enter 'router' mode.
#router
#enable
#configure t
#(conf) interface vlan 20
#(conf interface) ip address n.n.n.n m.m.m.m
#(conf interface) no shutdown
#(conf interface) exit
$(conf).
Very Cisco like and easy to understand.

I can't answer your question, except to say that we run a large number
of DFEs and, alone in my experience of network equipment, I have never
seen one fail.
Like the Cabletron box they evolved from, they are bomb proof.

Aern't Siemens and Enterasys joined now?
Anyway, here's a DHCP config. You do this in the switch BTW.
set dhcp enable
set dhcp exclude 10.1.1.94
set dhcp pool data
set dhcp pool data dns-server 10.8.4.8
set dhcp pool data default-router 10.1.1.94
set dhcp pool data network 10.1.1.64
BTW
Should have mentioned, you do not need to include a IP helper-address
in the router (seems obvious, but you never know).

You can get 'octopus cables' to emulate the rj21 patching.
Doesn't help much if you need to pull a blade, but it is a help for general
patching.

The traffic is already classified by the L2 header.
What further classification do you wish to do?

We run a network that covers a geography the size of Texas and includes several
large hospital campuses. The Enterasys LC03 long haul MGBIC handles
transmission over MMF of both 50 62.5 micron for us without a problem. This
is a much lower cost solution than SMF.

What was the issue that caused you to re-think your routing strategy?
And what budget constraint implies that you must use static routes as opposed
to a dynamic routing policy?

That is correct, you should not be able to ping the virtual IP address.

my config was correct, I just can't ping the VRRP IP address without this
command?
Scott
No, you cannot ping the virtual ip without that command, unless one of the
routers has the virtual ip as the vlan interface address, as you discovered.
This function as design for vrrp.

We use MRTG for historic BW charts, and this works well. It takes some work to
write the scripts, and depending upon how many interfaces you want to look at,
it could take quite a lot of work.
We use Spectrum for real time BW monitoring, but Netsite could work just the
same for this task.
BTW, I should have added that you can get much the same output from this
command on the S;
S4bonded (su)-show port egress tg.*.*;lag.0.1
tg.2.101104 untagged static
tg.6.101108 untagged static
lag.0.1 1 untagged static
lag.0.1
