I've never used Google Groups, so I guess this account is bonded to some
google email account and they want me to use that one. I'll check when I
have some spare time.
Maybe it's time to give a new spin to some netscape.com email account ?

Hi !
I'm testing configurations for migration to FB3 (LI-V3.0.5.33182/SS).
I try using security Per database in databases.conf.
mydb = /path/to/db.fdb
{
SecurityDatabase = mydb
}
Applications work fine in this environment, but using gbak remotely
using services manager is giving "Error:
RedExpert works really well (no v3.0.3.554 is v1.0.6) .

I use Firebird since 0.x version (open interbase?) .
It's the most versatile db I've found so far : embedded and full server,
linux(99%) and windows, odbc or jaybird.
Installs in 5 minutes with db configuration.
I never had a performance issue that was not my fault and biggest db's

Hi, from http://www.ibphoenix.com/resources/documents/general/doc_323
Maximum row size for user tables - 64KB.Count bytes. BLOB and ARRAY
columns each cost 8 bytes to store the ID; VARCHARs, byte length +

BIGINT, DOUBLE
Mark, thanks for the heads up .
Trying to use the service manager was a last/unknown resort as I never
used it .
The problem was (I guess) using a network connection. Using a local one
just did it.
root@camaleeon:/opt/firebird/bin# ./gbak -user SYSDBA -password
'mypassword' -c -v
key.

Hi, I run debian since ages.
Just for convenience I install binary packages downloaded from firebird
site, to avoid distro version. Always installs on /opt by default .
Databases files going on /srv/myfolder
