New Flexer here having trouble setting up CAT on Power SDR with virtual
serial ports.
I have installed VSPMGR and created some virtual ports to use with Power SDR
but the drop down box under CAT just shows my physical comm port.
I have installed and uninstalled the ports and VSPMgr and the

I would try it here.
I have a 10 watt drive 28/144 Mhz transverter that I thought I could use on
my Flex 5000A when it got here.
From what I had read and heard I figured that all I had to do was configure a

Bob,
In order to use the hi-drive transverter, you need to run powerSDR at 28 mhz
with the drive set to 10 watts. My N4PY software can assist here as it has
its own transverter interfacing scheme and you can then at least get the
N4PY program to display the 144 mhz operaing frequency. The
I'm trying to get true QSK with my amplifier which is an Acom 2000A. Please
let me know how low you are able to set your delay settings in PowerSDR and
still have reliable keying. I understand there are many variables here but
I'm just trying to get some benchmarks. I'm keying the Flex with a K1EL

Hi All,
This is my first posting to the list!
I've just purchased a Flex 3000 and haven't yet unpacked it, which I
am chomping at the bit to do!
I'm in the process of putting together the spec for the dedicated PC
just to control the radio.
When I was at the UK importer they had a Pentium
In addition to RFI, the other reason for using VAC (aside from the
additional hardware, cables, etc.) is that you avoid possible signal
degradation caused by converting a digital signal to analog back to
digital again.

Hi Mike
Not overkill at all although you could get by with a cheaper system. I would
be happy to send you the parts list of my low-cost and medium cost systems
if you desire, they are proven winners!

Hi Neal,
Thanks for the reply.
I'd be interested to see what spec the machines are that you use, so
do please email them over to me.
Do you use your F3K on on CW and how do you find it?
The UK importer has assured me that it will be no different to a
normal radio on CW with a high spec PC,
Hi Mike
I do but I am limited to abt 20 wpm and don't like qsk so I never use it. I
don't think you will have any problems with either of these boards.
I will send them from my newegg account so they will come in separate
emails.

Close PSDR and restart. The ports should then show up.

I am looking for advice. I am trying to get digital modes software

I am being stymied trying to get virtual serial ports installed. Com0Com is

What is true QSK, in your opinion? Can you be more specific?

Hi Bud
You should be able to set XP compatibility mode for VSPMgr within Home
Premium. You might be confusing compatibility with the emulation mode you
get with Premium which is actually a Virtual PC machine image of XP. You
cannot use this for PowerSDR at all so no need to worry about that.
I
QSK..
Normally,is when you can receive signals between your characters while
sending.. almost all the newer ricebox rigs will receive between
characters at 30 wpm, supposedly the good cw rigs will perform at 50+wpm.

Hi all,
just been doing some testing, I have found that my APC 1.5kw 240volt UPS
when in inverting mode does not make any noise of the HF bands
The matrix 5000 does not make noise and that one runs the house in case
of black outs.
Would be interested in others especially the cheaper ones,

No, they have a 64-bit version too (I'm running it on a 64-bit Win7
system). Here's the download page:
Also Bud, I had to install it using Administrator privileges.
Also I don't know if others have had this or not but I have had to add 1
Extra Comm port so 3 VCOMMS to make the first two work with out a hitch, for
some reason otherwise my WIN7 64K would loose one of the VCOMM ports once in
a while,
Joe,
Thanks. I went back and read the readme file and find a mention of the 64
bit version of Com0Com.
I downloaded version 2.2.2.0. When I try to install it, I get the message

The 32-bit and 64-bit executable images (the .SYS files) are different.

Interesting thread.
I have never been able to get true QSK as defined by w9ray at any code speed
above about 8-10 WPM when using the Flex 5000A alone. I am using one of Neal
Campbell's fine computers running WinXP, and PSDR 1.18.3. I never experienced
