Search button? The issue I’m speaking of is when you are on the Accounts tab and just start typing. A small entry field will pop up, usually in the lower right corner (location varies) and it finds (as you type) whatever text you just typed in that tab. It isn’t a feature of GnuCash to search

Just another point of reference, the delete key in this situation works fine on my system (Catalina). But I'm not quite sure that I am understanding your issue. In the search entry field, I can enter text and delete at will. When I hit the Search button, the search entry field is blanked, so

I don’t think that is a feature of GnuCash. I think it belongs to GTK. It seems to work similar to Find-in-page of browser windows. It will only search what is visible in the tab, so a collapsed part of the tree won’t be found. A keyboard shortcut to expand/collapse all would be nice to go

That used to trip me up too, but there is now ctrl+i which pops up a dialogue to search for accounts. One minor gripe with that is that the focus is not on the search box so you have to tab twice, enter your search expression, tab, then enter. You then get a list of matching accounts and select

Or as a workaround, could we not provide a shortcut to expand/contract all accounts? That way, when you start typing any account in the hierarchy would be searched... J. On 3/14/20 12:34 PM, jeanl wrote: Guys, When we're in the account list view (the main gnucash page), you can start typing

Guys, When we're in the account list view (the main gnucash page), you can start typing and this will open the account list to the first matching account. This is very convenient to quickly access an account in a large, deep hierarchy. However if the account tree isn't expanded, its leaf
