Thanks Geert and all who responded to my plea for help!  Got 3.8 working and everything seems to be working fine now including the - Stacked Bar Expense Graph.  All the charts look much more polished in this version and will have to look into what other new features have been added since

Hi Leo, The warning you get is because gnucash can't find the last file you opened in the location it expected. >From the path is suggests this is somewhere on your desktop. You can ignore the warning. When you get the empty gnucash page, use File- >Open to locate your date file again.

I think there is an RFE already filed on this or something very similar. Certainly, I have found the shorthand method to be pretty quick, unless I accidentally hit the wrong key, then it is a mess. (particularly hitting ‘;’ instead of ‘:’ for a separator) It would be nice to have arrow key

Amen to that! When I use the account picker while entering a transaction, I get all accounts in alphabetical order. It would be MUCH more useful to get a fan-out by account hierarchy. After all, if I know I'm entering an expense, other types of accounts just get in the way. As it is, to use the
