I thought I was missing something, as what you wrote is exactly what I

started using it... but surely there is some template or sample accounts
list?

Accounts and re-use your existing Account Hierarchy? Why rebuild it from
scratch?
Which begs the next question: Why restart at all? GnuCash has no
Orinth,
I am assuming that you are using a computer that has a Windows 10 or 11
operating system. GnuCash works somewhat like Word or LibreOffice. You
create one data file. You need to save it with a unique name in a subfolder
under your user data folder. It will have all the accounts that the
I have to enter and create each file on its on. there is no tree.

It seems I missed explaining myself. It is not the data files that I
am looking for. It's a new year and I can start from scratch to fill the
files. When I downloaded GnuCash from the beginning it did not give me the
opportunity to build a new accounting files tree. It always did before.

I noticed that very sliderbar shortly after posting ;-) I was just
expecting right mouse click on column header area to be the method of

I have found that usually, when the width of all the columns exceeds the
width of the window, a slightly inconspicuous horizontal scroll bar appears
at the bottom of all columns, allowing me to shift columns left and right.

Name, Description and Total.
