Mozilla's gecko engine is too fat. Even in my OpenSuse, it hangs. what you can do is to remove all add-on. Use minimum add-on only for must. Try some custom build of Firefox such as SwiftFox. Webkit is faster than gecko, hence chrome is faster. Hope Mozilla's guys will take care of this issue
