Hi Sandy,
I have an A record for ns.pixel8.com. I'm really beginning to think this
is just a bug in the interface. If someone who uses 2003 DNS and enters
their records through the MMC, could verify this, that would be
great. Maybe it's just me :(.
Thanks,
Michael Graveen

Do you mean domain prep and add prep in the Active Directory sense?
This DNS server is stand alone, no AD. It's in a
workgroup called pixel8.com, with pixel8.com as the primary DNS
suffix. That seemed to work well when we were on Windows 2000
Server.

I can't resolve the fully qualified name of the DNS server (the
server I'm doing this from).
can't resolve using which resolver?
I'm able to resolve my secondary name server, which this server
holds it's primary zone. From NSLOOKUP it resolves just fine.
pixel8.com and pixelfarm.com

What ever the resolver is in the MMC of the Windows Server 2003 DNS
interface. I'm not sure what it's using.

I know this isn't explicitly IMail related, but with all the knowledgeable

2003 Standard server. The server name is ns.pixel8.com. I installed the

Thanks for your response Len. I went ahead and added the PTR record for
ns.pixel8.com and added a PTR record that matches ns.pixelfarm.com.
My issue still exists within the DNS of 2003 not being able to resolve it's
own NS record on ns.pixel8.com. The exact error I get when adding the name

Sounds like it's the A record, not the PTR. You can manually add the
glue record (NS + IP), but that won't add the A automatically. The
