Hi David,
The best way to do this is to be running the same version on both machines
and then do the migration. Whether that be 9.0 on the old to 9.0 on the new
or 8.21 to 8.21. Here's a good kb on this.

I'd recommend that you install 8.21
I'd recommend you run 8.21 for a while until any bugs are stomped on
with a new version of software.
