this exact problem and that 8.21 resolved it.
thanks anyway,

Anyone have any comments:
We are in the process of moving our corporate mail onto a different mail

Now I have the instructions as far as how to do the store and forward my

I have a vague recollection that 'verbose logging' needs to be enabled.

If I remember correctly, in earlier versions it did not log because once access
is denied, it does not allow that IP to even make the connection on the SMTP

Not good. It appears that you are running a real-time or on-access virus
scanner on your mailserver.
If you want to run an AV tool on the server, be sure to exclude
Those are created by Declude Virus, and are temporary directories created
during the scanning process. Rebooting may have interrupted the process so
Declude couldn't clean them up. If they are more than an hour old you can
safely delete them.

Hi Adam,
thank you, this helps. I hope, that the verbose logging does not stress the
server until this time we upgrade our server to the latest version.

Any ideas?

The original design of Store and Forward is no longer adequate in this day
and age of dictionary type spam attacks. It is now recommended to have the
domain exist on Imail, and have an alias for each user.
Example, if the domain is domain.moc, Imail would be configured with a
domain called
The recommended procedure for rebooting a Imail server is to always first
stop the Imail SMTP and Queue Manager services before restart. This would
have prevent that problem.

We're waiting on our new mail server to come in and I wanted some
opinions as what the best method of moving from one server to a new one?
Is it best to set it up and move one domain at a time or wholesale?
Thanks,

Move the whole thing at once, it's pretty straight forward.
I did one in about 20 min.

Hi Bill,
This is not really complicated. I usually setup the new server running the

The only thing you should watch: Choose the same application folder for IMail,

When we upgraded servers in June, we took this approach:
1. config new server with OS, IMAIL and 3rd party filtering etc.
2. backed up registry with domains; restored this to new server
3. stopped services on old server
4. copied over user folders from old server to new
5. swapped IP's of old and
One of the mistakes I think we made in the beginning was not having a

D: imail install with spool
e: domains

Hi Bill,
This is a good idea. You can change the Spool directory any time. Change the

With a bit hacking in the registry, it's quite possible to keep the application
directory clean, meaning no data

You are correct, Double Take does not replicate the registry. It will only

one more ?, is that a PCI-X card? The PCI-X card slots are longer in my

Hi Don,
Thanks for the clarification.
There are no changes being made to the client in the upcoming release but it
will continue to work with the new IMail/ICS 2006.
Thanks for the comments on the future direction too - we appreciate and
want the feedback!
bye for now,
