The Same test is causing problem in ubuntu kernel version 4.8.0-17-generic.
Got below call traces:

Compute node is still up. I think we can consider upstream 4.4.23 to be
good.

Thanks for the offer Joseph! I have read your answer a bit late, so I am
already on my 9th kernel (all good so far). The docs were quite good and
I have wanted to try out "that bisect thing" for quite a while :)
(It's just a bit annoying that it takes about half an hour to compile on

[Ubuntu16.10]KV4.8: kernel livepatch config options are not set
--- Comment From bren...@br.ibm.com 2016-10-05 10:23 EDT---
Hello Hari,
It seems that there is another issue now, correct? Should we open a new
defect for it, or, just track it here? I think that Canonical's action
is not clear at this moment.

We had installed the mainline kernel on two machines and tested it again.
The issue still remains. One of the two machines get slow, lost the drdb
connection en begin to hang.
The other machine works fine (just like before).

Same issue as before. As with all of the 4.1 kernels, the screen freezes
before going into Plymouth. Only the cursor is visible and I have to
manually restart the computer.

With regard to the translation
The commit has been intensively tested in different scenarios/env/...
and of course with the "ZFS Test Suite"[1] which include functionality,
perf, and stress tests.
All the tests were reported as successful.
I hope this answer your questions and

To answer your question:
"Also as you are changing MNTTAB is there any reason not to be using that here?"
The "reading" is redirected to /proc/self/mounts and the "writing" to
/etc/mtab, but if it doesn't exist, that's fine. ZFS just won't update
/etc/mtab.
Ideally, ZFS should be
