This is partly a test and partly an announcement. Panix has installed a new
program, demime and I've asked for the lace lists to be set up to use
it. All html email to the lists should now be automatically converted to
text in a useful way.
I've arranged to have backups of the original email
I heard the 'bone lace' expression explained that fish-bones were used for
pins. Wish I had a reference, but it was years ago and I don't remember
where. Anyone else heard this one?

As you've surmised, Panix went down in the blackout. Their part of
manhattan didn't get power back till Friday night. The system message says
mail had more problems coming back up than most other services, and that
messages will may take a while to deliver while the backed-up queues

As announced earlier, I've moved the lacemaking site to a subpage - you can
find it at http://www.arachne.com/lace and of course there is a link to
it on the main page so nobody should get lost.
I have to admit I don't actually know. They are working through godaddy. I can
only say arachne.com isn't a name that lends itself to ilk. I've had occasional
inquiries over the years but have had no trouble declining. Whoever it is seems
very interested and came back several times to raise
It looks unanimous, we don't need lace-chat any longer. I will just stop it.
I will have to figure out how to make the archive available when the list is
closed, but I'm sure it is a solveable problem.
