Re: [LincolnTalk] What am I doing wrong with my hummingbird feeder?

2024-05-06 Thread Burch - Mudry Realty Team
I have had little success with my two hummingbird feeders.
However, it has been a joy to have hummingbirds enjoying my several potted
Salvia! I had one large pot last year along with a few Salvia in my cut flower
bed.
This year, I planted a dozen Salvia in five pots placed on my deck.
Hopefully, they’ll be back this year.
And, I’ll still fill the feeders.
Good luck!

Anyone have any tips or tricks?

Re: [LincolnTalk] What am I doing wrong with my hummingbird feeder?

2024-05-06 Thread Sara Mattes
It is a time of year when blossoms may offer more than a feeder.
We have feeders at our CO mountain house- no fussing with cleaning, or store
bought stuff, no red dye- just sugar and water boiled and cooled. When they
are hungry, they will buzz bomb you and fight each other to get to that feeder.
Also know they are very territorial and will spend all their time battling to
protect their turf/ feeder.
Relax, and at some point they will move in.

Hummingbirds are very territorial. I put up a feeder last spring and had a hummingbird show up constantly until another one came along about two weeks later. At that point they would show up dart around each other for a while then take off. I put up a 2nd feeder about 20 feet from the first one and they seemed to be happy. Paul RiceOn May 6, 2024, at 2:10 PM, DJCP wrote:I had something hanging in my window in front of the hummingbird feeder that scared off the birds.
