by now, most of you nikoneers should already be aware of the new
professional 35mm Nikon AF SLR, the F100.
I have had the opportunity to study the F100 brochure, and the first
releases of news on the F100 over the Internet. There is no doubt
that Nikon is marketing the F100 as a true

Is Nikon developing an MF-30 for the F100?
I hope they do. Ive been using my MF-26 to imprint a six digit

order. Really great when shooting roll after roll and never having to
number each roll with a pen. This is just one of
The Nikon F100 should prove to be an ideal main camera as well as a

this case the F5.

Hi Alexander.
So you think the F100 launch was hurried. Well i think so too.
But I think saying that the EOS3 is better than the F100 is just not
right. The F100 was designed as a real working machinewhich can take
a lot of abuse. It's a real pro camera. Its got advanced features,

After reading all the digests with the F100-EOS3 thing, it made me
really think, why did I choose Nikon and not Canon.
The answer, I chose Nikon for what I believed was practical,
universal, its design against obsolescence, and logical controls.
I believe that it was a great challenge for Nikon
There has been much talk about custom functions or programming Nikon
cameras to leave the film leader out.
Maybe they are still trying to figure out how to do this, in a way
where you can actually choose if you want the leader out or not for
eah roll shot. From what I've read in the digest, on a
So what do we expect to see when the SB-29 comes out. No, I don't
think there is one yet, but what wouldyou expect?
I would expect the SB-29 to have the dimensions of the SB-28 and the
controls of the SB-26.
I think it would also be nice if they could include a quick
compensation button which
Hi Nikoneers.
Did you ever think of how far Nikon has gone to offer us equipment
which defies obsolesence. Nikon users of 40 years ago must have never
imagined the F-mount to incorporate mechanical as well as electronic
AF drive systems or contact for lens CPUs to aid metering.

Hi Henry
Out of curiosity, I was setting the CFs of my F5 and trying out CF#4,

of the camera. When set at this, after obtaining initial focus, and
releasing the AF start button and recomposing, thereby removing the AF

Hi Nikoneers,
Just check this out. Canon's remote release is just the same as
Nikon's, I mean it looks exactly alike. It uses an SB-23 body! Also,
their version of the SD-8 battery pack for the Canon Speedlite,
exactly the same except for the Canon stamping and plug, I suppose.

Hi Nikoneers. So does anybody have a good guess as to what's up at
Nikon.
I hope these are photographic equipment. Anyway, these are the
products I hope they will come up with.

SB-26, with compensation memory recall button.
To those who are troubled by lens hoods falling off their lenses at
unwanted times.
If your lens hoods are gettin really old and worn out from attaching
and detaching them, try roughening the contact areas that lock into
the grove. This are the nubs on the flanges of the hood. Use fine
Hi Nikoneers.
I just received my 80-200 AF-S from my supplier a few days ago. All I
can say is that the lens is just outstanding. Its handling is just
the best. Its AF smooth as silk. When tracking moving objects, it
doesn't jump focus and the green dot is ever present in the
viewfinder.
Hi Warren.
There are several ways of using the AF-On button on the F5 and F100.
Here is one which have always used.
With the camera mode set to manual exposure and AF set at continuous
servo release priority, I am able to shift AF activation from the
shutter release button to the AF-On button

Hi guys.
If you are experiencing this problem, please check if your SC-17 is
the new version. The old one laks the posi-lock hole which is needed
to mount an SB-25,26,27,28. The newer version has this thus
eliminating the chances of dislodging the SB's foot from the hot shoe.

Hi guys.
Some of you have questioned the practicality of AF-S in short as well
as medium telephoto lenses. An advantage I have come to realize is the
ability to override AF with manual focus. This is quite helpful when
you find that the subject lacks contrast that it will be impossible to
use
When I made my shift from MF cameras to AF, I tried to learn
everything about the four main camera manufacturers whic offered AF
cameras. I studied all, Canon, Minolta, Nikon, and Pentax. Of all
the four I narrowed it down to three then two. I ended up deciding
between Nikon and Canon.

Why are we trying so hard to guess how the F5 metering
