Mesa should also work fine, anything after 10.5.4 should be good.

I am not sure about the rest of the email, but the error you included is
typically caused by using too old of a version of mesa. I’m not sure about
specific driver/etc but I usually suggest trying Mesa version 10.5.5 or
later to see if that solves the issue.
Thanks

Once that is done, I'll try to get to another pass on the PV code and get
it merged. For now the code can be found at
https://gitlab.kitware.com/ken-martin/paraview/commits/add_vr_2
but I believe that is old and not rebased to 5.2.0. Best bet would be to
rebase that to 5.2.0

For others that have the same issue, was the solution using 5.3 or building
against Qt4 for you?

that includes OpenVR support as well.
Please let me know if you run into issues, have contributions, or would
like to talk about future work/extensions.

Be aware if you are using the ParaView VR version with OpenVR support that
a recent driver update from steam has introduced some issues causing events
to be processed with delays. We should have a fixed version up in a week or
so.

We have fixed the issue and it has been merged into VTK master. Likewise
the PV executable download for OpenVR has been updated as well.
Thanks!
