Hi,
I have come into possession of a Canoscan 5200F.
It is reported by sane-find-scanner as a gl842 but having cracked it
open, I don't see any sign of one of those.
Just what looks like a proprietary controller with numbers on that I do
not recognise and no maker's mark, and some other

Thanks Louis, I'll check that out a bit later today. I'm happy that I have it
working and posted here to let others know. I'll follow developments and happy
to be a tester of the new protocol if and when that occurs. JohnSent from my

Hi,
scanimage needs a redirection to the image output and a separate
redirection to the debug outputs, e.g.
SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA=11 scanimage <...> 2> mx495_adf.log > image.pnm
For gui frontends you can use the combined redirection, e.g.
SANE_DEBUG_PIXMA=11 xsane &> mx495_adf.log
Thank you Rolf, I think I did see that but it didn't register with me at the
time. This is a new printer replacing one that had a wired connection and I
haven't made the mental jump that I am now using a wifi connection. JohnSent

Hi John,
As you can see here
(http://www.sane-project.org/lists/sane-backends-cvs.html#S-PIXMA), we
don't support WiFi yet. Maybe Canon's new WiFi protocol will be
implemented later.
If you need WiFi, you should stay at the scangearmp2 project. You can
use SANE with USB.
Hope this helps.
