Hi, Matt: From the FrameMaker 9.0 User Guide, page 50: The counter in the Head2 format keeps the value of the first counter the same but doesn’t display it. If the counter is not in that position, the A+ in the Head2 format refers to the first counter (not the second), and FrameMaker produces [incorrect results]. Interestingly, on page 51, the table for Japanese numbering options, Building block is the heading for the column that contains constructs like zenkaku n (meaning Fixed-width Arabic numbers.) It's a good example why it's important to observe a doc set's style guide diligently, if there is one, and to have one if there isn't one.
