Title:
Backport of mysql-*-5.1
To manage notifications
I've heard of folks using 5.1.22 on Hardy (as pulled down from the
aforementioned PPAs) who are having replication problems. Might be best
to avoid this non-GA version.

Could not get the karmic version to build, but jaunty builds fine:
prevu mysql-dfsg-5.1/jaunty
But will not install without mysql-common-5.0, therefore it is also
necessary to do:
prevu mysql-dfsg-5.0/jaunty
Then mysql-server-5.1 installs fine. Seems to work well on my Hardy
installation.
I
I noticed I had to install mysql-common first.
apt-get install mysql-common
AND then
apt-get install mysql-server-5.1
This got rid of the pre-dependency error shown above.

I made virtualbox test machine and attempted to use the previously
mentioned ppas and got the following message.
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-server-5.1_5.1.22rc-2~ppa5_i386.deb:
pre-dependency problem - not installing mysql-server-5.1

In order to install the version 5.1 you need to add additionals DEB repository

For instance append those two new repository to your /etc/apt/sources.list
files:
deb
I have not as this is my first time ever hearing about it and not
something I want to try using for the first time on a production server.
If I get time I guess I could virtualbox version and testif I get

I second this... the replication features and partitioning features that
are included in 5.1 that arent in 5.0 alone can make a world of
difference.
If we could get some type of response on this it would be HIGHlY
appreciated.
