exact same issue here. 1.5 TB device in external case. Problem doesn't

I am suffering from this. 10.04 32-bit, Intel Mac Mini, all ports the same.
Cannot reproduce, it just happens at least once per day. Got the Western
Digital 1.5GB, ext4, USB 2.0, Enermax Jazz case.

I am not quite sure if I am suffering from this bug or #430694 . All I can say
is that it does not work out of the box (screen blanking just after the
isolinux splash of the LiveCD 2009-10-05) and that it does work when adding

I've now upgraded my Mac Mini 2nd gen system and it did not work. Then,
I applied #32, but it still does not work:

Provided your mirror has already got 2.6.31-12, just remove the patch
#32 and upgrade:

It's now working perfectly fine on my computer. (The cursor flickers a
bit during startup but I don't mind)
I am also suffering from this bug. I'd like to help fixing it. But it is not
possible for me to do a complete install.

I agree with Igor, in terms of testing, this is a very severe issue. If
I wasn't able to put that boot option into place (like 99% of the
users), I wouldn't have been able to do any testing at all. In terms of
marketing, I think it is not a good idea to release beta software
without the Intel
I hope the following info is useful: With daily-live 2009-09-29 the
issue remains unsolved -- still no screen without the kernel option. If
that is what you've called original fix then I'd suggest rating its not
working as serious indeed.

Unless using the daily live cd as of 2009-09-24 is not the right way of
testing this patch, it is not working for me. However, i915.modeset=0
still does the job. I don't know if this is of any interest but I am
also not able to establish a network connection (neither through LAN nor
WLAN).

Tried the latest daily karmic ubuntu desktop i386 (as of 2009-09-07) but it
still does not work.
The system still reacts however, as I can tell from being able to shut it down
using the ACPI shutdown method triggered by a short tap on the power switch.

I now found a way to reproduce it: Once you've set up the proxy system-wide and
then restarted the system, it does not reset the proxy if you tell him to do
so, at least not in a way that makes echo $http_proxy return nothing.
So you do the following:

* reset

The funny thing is that it works perfectly well if you just cut and paste the

I totally agree with you, that bug should be fixed. At least for me it
was enough to just install the resolvconf package.

When I refresh the apt-database using Synaptic or apt-get update I get the

Actually I now have this problem with gutsy. When I insert a rewritable
CD, rhtyhmbox freezes as soon as I start to erase and burn that disc
with GnomeBaker or whatever.
