You are technically wrong.
1) As I said in comment #17, at one point, using the same hardware and the same
BIOS, it used to work. So, it is *not* necessary to update the BIOS to fix this
issue.
2) Updating a BIOS is a potentially risky operation as it can brick my *work*
laptop. This is the
The new one is bug #1265291.

PS: just in case you don't understand the whole situation: I am trying
to help Ubuntu by reporting bugs on my free time. This is benevolent

This bug existed a long time ago, then got fixed, and then came back again.
So, that means that this is not a hardware bug or a BIOS bug. If this has been
fixed
This is a flawed argument. Just because your card reader functionality
changed dependent on linux version, doesn't mean it's not dependent on
the BIOS.
You're wrong: I never said it was not dependant on the BIOS. I said
that this shows that an update of the BIOS is not needed to fix this
issue,
I confirm that this bug still exists in today's devel release.

Dear Christopher, are you for real or are you a bot? I already told you

Please stop messing with this bug, and just forward it to the developers

the manpower
Julien Olivier, thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, if you are
unwilling to update the BIOS, this report is at a standstill. The
upstream card maintainer has made it quite clear an outdated BIOS would
need to be updated to rule this out. While exception to this could

I have absolutely no desire to mess with my BIOS, but that doesn't

Can you also test the latest upstream 3.5[0] kernel?
If the bug exists there, we can perform a reverse bisect to find the
commit in v3.6 that fixes this.
