I had this same problem with Edgy and Feisty. Ever since upgrading to
Gutsy, I have had no problems at all, except for Bug #129581, but that
has nothing to do with power down. Gutsy solved my power down problem!

When I tryed patching the kernel with bluez patch, the patch process reports
that almost all modifications have already been done to the kernel (which is
weird... maybe that's due to some modification made by the ubuntu team but not
exactly the same
I have a similar problem.
Installed unbuntu 7.04 which works fine. Then installed kubuntu-desktop using
synaptic and that went fine. In trying to switch desktops or using k3b i have
the same errors listed above. In fact all kde problems give the same error

It even causes a crash on SuSE Linux 10.2 i386 with the most recent kaffeine
rpm up to date: 0.8.4.
it runs with xine.

I haven't tried to install Kubuntu 7.04 yet in a real machine.
When booting from the live CD, all works correctly even inside VMware.
After installation on virtual HDD, still ok. After installation of latest
vmtools (build 45731) the problem appears (here attached the xorg.conf before
