You can easily compile the latest libvirt version yourself: aptitude install build-essential, libxml2-dev, libgnutls-dev, libdevmapper-dev, libparted0-dev, libvirt-dev ./configure –prefix=/usr –exec-prefix=/usr –libdir=/usr/lib –includedir=/usr/include make make install There is a configure option --with-numa, but I didn't use ist. libvirt recognizes the numa cells without this option. As I said, not aware of setting up any external repositories to install the network-manager. Initially, I had 9.04, went to Karmic and recently to Lucid. I always used the software-manager to run upgrades, no other external repositories involved. I don't know why I would install the network-manager from anywhere else. [Bug 650446] [NEW] Cloud exhausting Permanent Generation space
Public bug reported: I have a cloud which has been running for a couple of weeks under light- moderate load and as of last night it has stopped functioning. cloud- output.log is silent and cloud-debug.log has: 17:53:33 DEBUG [NioServerHandler:Hashed wheel timer #1] Internal Error. java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space many times over, and eucalyptus-cloud is consuming 100% CPU. #eucalyptus and some googling indicate that this is java running out of space in a particular buffer, and that -XX:MaxPermSize=256m would help avoid/delay this. Also upstream appears to have made such a change for 2.0. Is this something we should put into Lucid? Are the benefits/dangers balanced sufficiently? Actually, this is happening because virt-aa-helper is exiting with error. Unfortunately, libvirt does not deal with this in a way that makes it easy to debug (ie 'Security labelling error'). UPDATE: I am able to find the printer and install it from a LiveCD of Ubuntu 10.04.1. The Ubuntu 10.04.1 LiveCD found the printer at: smb://NET/Printer whereas installed versions find it at: smb://MSHOME/NET/Printer So, I decided to go back into my Maverick beta here and try to find the printer as I just did on the LiveCD. No luck. I inputed smb://NET/Printer into the Device URI hoping for it to work, still no luck. Hello. I am back. We have moved all the vhosted clients from this system to another Ubuntu 8.04 and this problem has not resurfaced since then. These systems are very, very similar in their configurations. Both are primarily web servers. Its been now 28 days, and that is probably a good sign that the problem was left behind. Until now, it had been persistent, anywhere from 1 day to maybe 2.5 weeks. Always same error, at the same line, in the same file. I am glad to be rid of it, but don't have a good explanation to explain it. I tried this on the latest version of PHP in Maverick (5.3.3-1ubuntu9), and I see the same truncation issue. Also I tried doing the POST with the curl_xxx functions and the XML was complete. [Bug 649566] [NEW] No tethering after update on 2010-09-27
Public bug reported: Since the last update I can no longer use native iPhone tethering. The ethernet interface (eth3 for me) that ipheth usually creates is not present. Steps to reproduce: 1. The wwan0 interface never comes up, the blue Tethering status bar never appears on the iphone, no tethering takes place. It looks to me like it's trying to configure the iPhone as a Mobile Broadband (Wireless Wide Area Network) connection instead of a Wired (Ethernet) connection. This is actually a more accurate interpretation of the iPhone's tethering as an internet connection, but something is missing and Network Manager can't autoconfigure the interface. For Natty I see two things we can do to improve the situation: a) Ship more dataproviders for Zeitgeist. In other words: Make sure apps either update .recently-used.xbel or that they log stuff directly in ZG. b) Integrate other means of discovery. For example: b1) Listing music files via the MPRIS2 API b2) Integrating removable devices (USB sticks) directly in the places (they just show up in the launcher now) b3) U1 integration bN) ... Just to clarify - since I upgraded the drivers, I have found that the google bookmark sync doesn't cause the hang (which can be positively identified by caps lock light not showing) - this is a great improvement over the situation when this bug report was opened. However I am suspicious that heavy network usage (e.g. bittorrent) is still causing these hangs say once every 24-48 hours. This is still an issue. As of my experience, I can receive files from NFS with no problems. As soon as I SEND files to the NFS Server, the Ubuntu client hangs-- partially. What I mean by Hang is: - NFS File Transfer continues, at normal speed. - GUI is 80% inoperable: No further programs are allowed to be launched and the open programs tend to freeze. Panel apps keep running surprisingly. System Monitor stops scrolling cpu/mem/net info. - If I stop the NFS Transfer, normal behavior is recovered. All Applications resume functionality.
