I haven't tried to install Kubuntu 7.04 yet in a real machine. When booting from the live CD, all works correctly even inside VMware. After installation on virtual HDD, still ok. After installation of latest vmtools (build 45731) the problem appears (here attached the xorg.conf before and after

This definitely is a problem with vmware tools, your xorg.conf shows that they are using there own mouse driver and mouse protocol. I recently upgraded a Kubuntu Edgy virtual machine to Feisty through the network and the problem did NOT appear. Compare the vmmouse InputDevice sections in

I have a similar problem. I am using a MacBook and the Bluetooh mouse from Apple. When I reverse mouse buttons, I get the same behavior. I think it's an xorg issue; I saw the same behavior with USB mouse with X terminals, even though I am unsure of how to reproduce this problem with other setups.
