Hmm, not sure I completely understand your previous message but I get the impression from it that the external screen works right with classic desktop (no effects), so it sounds like this is a dupe of the bugs relating to compiz' handling of multi-monitor configurations. I'll bump it over there.

Actually, that's what i tried before. It just turned out that's easier to attach the external screen by login in at classic desktop (without effects). But this doesn't mean it is working properly. It's again a trial and error. The normal way I try to attach is: -Log in (unity) without external
