When do you think it can be uploaded to Karmic? IMO, this is a serious
bug that would prevent a new user from saving new scans - the raison
d'etre for the software.
As soon as SRU team acks the upload. For stable release, I would
suggest a debdiff with no packaging changes, with only the patch
Uploaded, thank you.
i686 in debian/control is not really a problem, just lintian dislikes
it. I removed it so that the debdiff is easier to evaluate in future.

Got it running with this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1020019.
I only had to change the match-string to: 3M 3M Touchscreen - EX II.
Calibration still does not work, but wasn't required in my case.

The issues in comments #4 #5 are caused by the same issue as bug 353144.
I hesitate to mark this as a duplicate since the issue in the initial report and
comment #1 are different. Those amount to config script does not gracefully
handle wget mishaps.

Just by way of explaining what it does now, not necessarily what needs
to be done to fix this bug:
It calls xdg-settings (/usr/lib/chromium-browser/xdg-settings) to check
if it's the default. In the GNOME environment, it will check
/desktop/gnome/applications/browser,
I just wrote a patch to support the fragment option. It works with
Ubuntu 10.04.
