I am the upstream maintainer for Alexandria, the root cause of this issue is

Ah, after going through a downgrade to 8.04 Mythbuntu, MythDora and Fedora, I
went back and tried MythBuntu 9.10 again.

kernel please? All the documentation I've found so far is out of date
and doesn't work as advertised.

The bug buffer overflow of xfig is worse than ever in Ubuntu-9.10 (Karmic
Koala)
whenever I push the done button (for example after editing) or the set
button (after zooming)
xfig crashes!

Yup - I get the same problem. looks like when its about to display a
message in one of the folders it crashes.
